Sorry to hear you didnt recover him Steve but from the sounds of it, he clotted up pretty well and quit bleeding all together.Hope its a flesh wound and that you will get to hunt him another day. Keep your head up bud, those scrapes are paying big dividens right now.
That is a tough loss for sure. Hopefully you get another crack at him before this year is over with. I lost a 130 class 8 pointer last year, and after looking for 6 days, shotgun season and the orange army made me quit looking. It is a tough one to swallow, but it happens to everyone eventually.
Crap, Steve. Been thinking about this all day; sorry to hear. Hope you get another look at him later this season.
Steve, I just now saw this... .. I am really sorry to hear about the whole story, but that is definitely positive that you think you found where he beds. He is an amazing deer. Call me crazy but I think you will get another chance at him. It is still pretty early and you are a determined hunter. Your late season doe kill last year proved that. If it is most likely a flesh wound and know know his possible bedding area, you have a lot of time to get your redemption. Like good old Grandpa Bowman says, "they hate ya if you're perfect". Just now losing your first deer after that many years of bowhunting, says a lot about your ability. It was bound to happen sometime, stay after him..
