i guess to the thing is unless u have under a second trigger speed u kind of have to set up the camera right to not get pics of butts or no pic at all due to them walking across befor it has a chance to take the pic
Actually with my new covert I have been putting it on 3 shot burst, and the first shot is almost always a blank and the second or third will have the deer. The detection range must be wider than the picture range. I will take that every time over getting the back half of a deer by the time a camera triggers. I'm very happy with my Red 40, and am planning on buying more in the future.
Just want to comment on how I set up my trail cams. If its on a mineral site, I put it on single shot every 30 seconds. If its on a scrape, field edge or on a trail, I set them up for a 3 shot burst with no delay. That way I don't miss a buck trailing a doe or the other bucks if there is a bachelor group traveling together early in the year. Also, be careful which direction you point it. If its in the open, be sure you're not pointing it towards the sun, especially afternoon sun. The heat from the sun can make trail cameras take false pictures.
alright thanks for the info guys always looking to get more cameras might have to give one of these a try. they pretty price comparable?
You can get the red 40 for $165 free shipping on the internet Google shopping search .... the black 60 for around $200...retail is $150 and $200 respectively
Tony. I like to use a shoe string and cord lock rather than the strap. The strap is dark green and really sticks out. I also use a Python cable if it's in a area where it may be spotted.
I think I am gonna go with the Python ... if it gets stolen, I will be pissed. I will also take it down before gun season .... It's private land, so no one should take it...
Tony thats why I have a python cable for all 4 of my Coverts, plus it makes it easy carrying them in when you're hanging or moving them, just sling it over you shoulder and go! I also have small little combination locks to lock the housing so no one has access to the SD card. Speaking of SD cards, I use the blue SanDisk cards, 8G and get THOUSANDS of pics on one card, format them every time you change em out. I've had trouble with other brands. It sure is fun but also can break your heart when you check your camera and you see a big buck in front of your stand and you weren't in it! UGH...... If I'm hunting a stand with a camera on it....I'll switch it over to 1 minutes video.......
