My son stopped by yesterday, I was out in the shop tinkering. He asked if he could shoot my bow, I was taken back by this. I begged him to bow hunt when he was in high school he had zero interest. He shot the bow a few times and was consistent but not hitting the bullseye then again the draw weight is too high and the draw length too short. He said he wants to bow hunt, I am overjoyed I will do all I can to get him on a buck. Funny after turning 22 soon to be 23 and living in the city he finally develops and interest, I will admit it made me misty.
Sometimes is just takes some time for a seed to sprout. Glad to hear of your good luck fortune. Now go get that boy a bow that fits him... Sent from my BBB100-3 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Yeah my camo won't fit him either, he is my wife's baby boy there will be no grousing about what it costs to outfit him with the needed equipment.
Well I thought I would get him some berber fleece I love the Cabelas berber fleece. Went on the e-bay and my goodness when did it get so expensive? $260 just for the top? Luckily I work just the other side of the freeway from Cabelas I will be scanning the bargain cave every week.
Glad to hear your good fortune Sota. I was similar like your son with coming around although it took until my early 40's. Luckily I did and had some good seasons with my dad before he passed in 2016. Best of luck to you and your son and enjoy every minute you have.
I am trying not to go overboard on the deal. I picked up a set of berber fleece for the young man now just need to get base layer and boots. My son insists that he has boots he can use to hunt, I am really trying to not pound the scent free thing too hard, I don't want to drive him away or hype it too much and turn him off.
No matter the age, you have to show them how fun and exciting it is. We all know how hard and tedious it can be but that doesn't come until you get crazy about it. Hell and for some never.
I take care of all the work all he has to do is show up. Not going to pamper him he will show up to till the plot under, he is not too city soft he will drive up to help with fire wood and putting hay in the loft so he is not afraid to work but I really want him to sit and watch the does a few nights and practice not moving and trying to get stood up, etc.
