There are untold millions of gun owners in the US, and only 4 million NRA members. It's all about numbers folks. If every gun owner were a member, oh my. It's cheap. $35 a year, and many places offer a $10 discount making it only 25 bucks. Only 25 bucks to defend your freedom. We have to stand together. We have to. Or we WILL lose it. Mayor Bloomberg has openly stated he is out to destroy the NRA.

Even if you don't agree with them all the time. Think about this. If one right is taken away, how long before the 1st amendment goes, the third, fourth and on and on.

New laws are coming. The train is headed down the tracks and picking up speed. There is more at stake than our second amendment right. The NRA is the most powerful ally we've got. Like them or not. I for one cannot simply set in my hands and let it happen. It may happen anyway, but it won't be because I sat in the corner and let it. I know many of you are going to disagree with me. That's ok. That's our first amendment right at work. All I ask is you think about it. If you've made it to the end of this post, I say thank you for at least listening.

I was a member in the past, I stopped renewing because I got tired of the BS phone calls, emails and letters.

    Same here.

I used to donate fishing or bear hunting trips every year to the banquet here. Always brought good money. I would rather do that than be a member, at least no one calls me constantly.

Me too but to be honest, in this climate, I'm considering rejoining.

Agreed same here about the constant junk mail they would send. Stop fing wasting the money I donated on sending my crap every 3 days.

I also do not see myself relating to the NRA anymore either. I actually think its time for some reasonable gun control.

Hope your right but imo, they will be banning AW and they will try to take it further in the future. Lose the house in 2 years and see how quick all semis are gone.

I haven't seen any reasonable gun control measures offered up.

Maybe not ours but the laws will only make it harder for new gun owners, like the next generation.

Never gotten a phone call, and I would never give anyone like the NRA my personal email.

I'd like to think that what money it costs to generate an email or send a letter to all members, is covered by said fundraiser and then some. But who knows. While it seems like waste on our end or other people who don't send money everytime they're asked, I bet it helps the NRA's bottom line.

    HA!

I would consider it but I was a little disappointed in there conference yesterday. The problem we have is bigger than just armed guards in schools. I do not know the answer to make society safer, and I will not give up my guns, including my SKS(if i were to have one) but I was hoping for a better speech than the one I heard yesterday.

I disagree. Where are the votes going to come from to accomplish this? There are those even in the democratic party who will refuse to go after guns.

I am not confident the republucan party will stick to their principles . I think they will compromise AW's for votes. As I was typing this, the news on the radio said public opinion was against the NRA and ready for gun control.

I hope I'm wrong and I know votes is where it counts. This is why I vote Republican because our system is about votes today and not the constitution.

So why do you vote Republican? You vote for someone, yet have no confidence that they will stick to the principals they say they have.

Time for a political revolution in this country. Actually, its long past due.

I personally believe that anyone who is a hunter and/or gun owner should be a member of the NRA. Like and agree with everything they do or not...they are the ONLY group standing up for 2nd amendment rights. Sure they send too much crap, or call too much...that is the marketing to get extra $ in. (you can tell them not to by the way, and they will tone it way down) I'm a life member.
