Just finished my orientation and signed up for classes today. I am planning on getting my Associate of Applied Science Degree in Electrical Technology and then maybe later on getting a degree in Wildlife Management. I am both super thrilled and extremely nervous. I am only able to take evening classes after 6 pm since I work 8-5 Monday-Friday. I took a semester off after high school to work and rest but I finally back and hitting the books. Any tips on managing work and school and ways to not get over whelmed with it? Anyway I'm am pretty excited about all of this and am ready to get through school and get a job and start my life. Only thing that sucks is now I got to pay tuition, and fees, and books instead of a new bow... Oh well, maybe it will all pay off in the end!!!

    Agree with IV here..........
Also be sure to manage your money well. Dont be forced into having to work more than a reasonable amount for a college student.
It will be easy to get burnt out
When I went to college I worked 3 part time jobs. With work , school and family illness I couldn't do it anymore and something had to go . Unfortunately for me at the time it had to be school.

Ahhh. This can be the most painful and one of the best times of your life. Manage your time wisely and your money even better. Good luck. I have had a blast after just finishing my first semester. I met a lot of guys that hunt and have become good friends.

    HunterC,
I just completed my 2nd term of graduate school (4 classes since Aug.) got my BA in 1988. You can do it. All my classes are online. Time Management is key. I am a full time police officer with wife and three children. Here's my priorities: work, family, school and maybe 1 day a week to only think about climbing a tree. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I have only hunted @7 days since the season opener in Alabama on Oct. 25 (and I hunted the first 4 days of the year) SORRY. But it will be worth it.

Time management and prioritize. The last time I was in college, I was in a combination accelerated degree/internship program. I worked Friday and Saturdays at the mine I work at now and was in school Mon-Thurs (7 am - 5 pm most nights, 10 pm on Tuesday). We had my oldest and were expecting my second son, so I was the only income. Luckily, scholarships and grants (and the nat' guard paying my tuition) helped balance out my finances.

    Good luck in school!

First off, congrats! College is a great time and the end result will be worth it. When it comes to being poor and working, you can handle it. I worked at least two jobs during undergrad and wrestled and still made good grades. It's about setting rules and limit yourself to obtain a goal. After undergrad I worked full time making $8.00 hour lived in closet ( it seemed )for a year, did night classes and drove 45 minutes one way to school and work only to repeat the next day. My future father in law at the time got me food for Christmas cause he came by my place one day and saw nothing in the fridge. All this while having an early unexpected baby. I was 22. I put a picture of my daughter on my cars review mirror and told my self everyday when I woke up at five to drive to work and class that " she is worth it". If I can do that, you will be fine. Good luck.
