Mechdoc and I are working on a theory.

I read an article a few years ago in a bowhunting magazine about a couple of landscapers that hunted their clients properties. The theory was that they hunted without using scent sprays and kept their hunting clothes within the trucks etc. The theory was that the deer were used to the mowers and workers and didn't associate them with danger.

Recently MechDoc and I set up cameras on a property within a mile of a shopping mall and near a forest preserve that gets a lot of foot traffic. We have seen deer come up and smell that cameras that we check and we haven't been spraying down. We have been using a ton of bug spray, no gloves, street shoes, etc. We have had a buck on the cam less than an hour from when we pulled the cards and appeared to be fine with the "contaminated site" that we left.

Do you think that deer can be trained to accept human presence and not spook at the smell of humans as long as they do not realize they are in danger from us?
