Hey guys if you could take a moment out of your busy days and keep those in Texas in your prayers. I live here in south east Texas where the rains are currently flooding Everything in Harveys path. Since Saturday my place has gotten 20+ inches of rain. Some places are 30-40+ inches of rain in just the last couple days. I have many friends that have evacuated and water has entered homes that have never once flooded ever. I'm safe for now but pretty much confined to home with areas around us blocked off due to rising water. Department of transportation is wanting everyone off the roadways if possible. I'm getting a little cabin fever but me and lab pup are fine and high and dry. Just asking one hunter to another to say some prayers for the devastation down here. Thanks, KJ
You got it. My brother lives in Houston and got flooded. I'm in Louisiana and it's coming our way but should not be an issue since it is supposed to pick up speed and get out of here. Sent from my SM-T537V using Tapatalk
I have some close friends in Houston. They are still ok but it's getting sketchy. Prayers out to everyone in that situation. Stay dry and safe and we will all work to support you when it's over.
Happy to oblige you...I've been sending prayers and positive thoughts down Texas way since Saturday. What a total mess, it's going to take some time...a long time, but things will improve - hang in there.
Prayers from me! We had a flood here in mid TN back in 2010 where we got a year and a half worth of rain in 2 days. It was devastating and probably pales in comparison to what the people in TX are going thru. My heart hurts for them. I can't stand to see people mistreated or suffer when nothing can be done to make it stop.
Well todays update: Things got considerably worse last night when the storm came ashore for the 3rd and final time. We lost power early this morning but my house has some great drainage. My town of bridge city, TX has had a reported amount of 51 inches of rain through this morning just in the last couple days. Coast guard along with several other governmental agencies have been assisting in water rescues for numerous counties around here along with hundreds of volunteers from local communities! I was here for hurricane Ike and this is by far way worse than Ike because there are many counties that are just completely devasted with water in their homes. Many of my friends and co-workers have lost just about everything they have including cars and homes with some reporting up to 6-8' of water in their homes. I'm thankful to say the least that my property didn't take on any water.... I'm counting my blessings but please continue to keep TX/la in your thoughts. If you have any extra clothes or anything you could donate I will try to get them to a local shelter. If you would like more info please DM me. Thanks guys, KJ
We've been praying for the whole area, it's going to take a long time to recover from something like this. I work for a manufacturer of equipment that is used by the electric companies to construct and maintain the power lines. There are literally hundreds of zip codes that we simply cannot ship packages to. UPS said they will most likely be at least two weeks behind delivering any ground shipments and several days behind on NDA packages. The companies are having to have the parts shipped to places about 100 miles away from where they are working so that they can get the parts needed to keep the equipment working.
Daughter is a trauma nurse at one one the hospitals in Houston. She's been there since Friday morning, 24/7. She gets to return home tonight. Water was 2' deep in her condo. My heart aches because I know what she's going to find and the shock she's going to have.
We did and are. It was beautiful yesterday and I had a noon meeting with a client about 40 miles away. Everything I saw said it would hit us at 10PM. So I rode my Harley. It hit about 1:15, 5 minutes before I left the client to come back. So I had a rough ride in that on a bike. Forecast said we would get 8" today but I think that has been downgraded. We can't handle that much at one time. We have Percy Priest Lake, Old Hickory Lake and the Cumberland River all coming together in one area and the Old Hickory Dam is shaky at best.
I feel for the folks in Texas. Getting through Sandy here sucked, I cannot imagine what they are going through. God Bless Texas and all the people of that great state!!
Some of the pics I took while out and about doing some rescues the last couple days. Water is still up in some places. The dams to a couple lakes just north of us have the lakes over full capacity and are opening up the flood gates at wide open for everything to come further down river and flood these areas again. This is just beginning for some. Continue to pray for us down here guys.
