So i just got permission on a property but the majority of the woods is pasture land. I havent walked it yet, its in SE MN in the hills and is surrounded by crops. The wooded pasturw is a draw that goes down into a valley. Anyone have any experiences hunting woods that are also occupied by cattle? There is a part of the property that is just woods and no pasture but it is not connected to much other woods.

    Let me know your thoughts

    Thanks everyone

I'm in the same exact boat as you. So far with my trail cameras I can tell that there are a lot of does holding in this pasture. I figure that if it holds the does, the bucks are bound to show up come November. It's beautiful land to hunt nonetheless. Good luck and let us know how you do.

SE MN is God's country. I agree with CML, if you can find where those does are bedding and find a few different stands for different winds, focus on getting in and out without spooking them, you should have deer. Welcome to the forum.

Without knowing more I'd say that wooded draw is going to be your best bet!

I've seen a few does in our pastures. Generally they're moving through. The one time I jumped a few was when they were bedded under some thick stuff. I'd say focus on the areas with thicker woods. Besides being more apt to hold deer, at least on our farm the cows are more likely to stay away from the thick stuff.

Hunting in a pasture that has cattle can be a bit of a frustration. If they see or hear you come in, they love to follow you or stand under your stand staring at you as they are expecting you to feed them. With that said, deer will still use the land. A couple years ago, a guy I know shot a 212" buck off a piece of pasture with cattle on it.
