Some of you may remember this thread from last year.....

Terry was back to hunt this week along with his son (Tey) and grandson (Kasey). Rolled in late Tuesday but I was unable to hunt with them Wednesday so I showed / told them where to go, and headed to the office to get my month wrapped up. Nothin....

Thursday morning started off well, lots of birds gobbling on roost and right where they needed to be. Shortly after they hit dirt we were able to call away a dandy bird. He came through the fence and across the dirt road and crossed Kasey's path at 15 yds. I then took off to the blind to sit with Terry and ride out the storms. Saw a few more birds but didn't close the deal.

Friday morning was Picture perfect ALMOST. We had slipped back into the blind and had a bird gobbling on roost within 100 yds of us. He flew down to the opposite side of the creek so I began to call to him some, after a few minutes he crossed the creek and entered the field. I don't think he ever took a breath as he was gobbling his head off the entire way. Once in the field a gave him a few soft yelps, he looked and went into strut but then just kept walking straight. He cut across the corner of the field skirting the dekes by about 60 yds and stopping to strut and gobble every few feet. He crossed the fence and walked up the hill a bit then puffed up. Three hens quickly pop out of the woods and begin to feed around him. FOR 45 MINUTES LOL.

Eventually the hens worked their way to our dekes and within 5yds of the blind. The tom gave up his post and came our way. He got a lil too close.

After caring for the bird, Tey, Kasey, and I headed off to another spot, We didn't see anything in the afternoon. Took a break and went back. We didn't make it 100 yds from the truck on our way to our destination when we walked up on the longbeards standing on a low water crossing. The birds spooked a bit but not bad. We took off into their direction, once we hit the edge of the woods we setup on a small wheat field. Soon as I hit the call there seemed to be turkeys everywhere. The wheat was just tall enough you couldn't hardly see them, if they weren't standing straight up. Didn't take long to get one in range for a beak re-arranging. Soon as he started flopping the next nearest bird came in for the attack. Whacked and neatly stacked...

As always it was a super fun hunt, really enjoyed having them all here again!
Now its time for me to get my second tag filled.
