Ever since my son saw Mike Wadell on TV take his 5 year old hunting, he has been begging me to go deer hunting this year. Bow season opened today, so I grabbed a ground blind and headed out to the cabin. We brought a crossbow, as I thought it would be easier to shoot from a ground blind, with my son by my side, than my compound. Long story short, we didnt see anything. (actually we saw some turkey, but truthfully, Ive never turkey hunted) The moral of this story isnt that we weren't successful bagging a deer, its that my boy and I spent a few hours out in the woods learning about nature, animals, hunting, and testing the limits of how long a 5 year old can stay quiet and still. (for my boy, its about 3.5 hours) We had a great day, and thats all I can ask
thats what its all about right there. my daughter will be 4 this winter so im hoping to start taking her out with me 2014 season.
Sounds like a good day. We got my 4 year old a Genesis bow for his birthday coming up. I think that I'm going to wait a few years before bringing him hunting. I do a lot of spot and stalk and don't think he's ready for the terrain just, yet
LMAO! My thoughts exactly. I have to pack in an extra 50 pounds of crap to get my kid to stay quiet more then 15 mins. Extra cloths, blanket, sleeping bag, toys, books, ipad, 5 llbs of snacks and drinks. Snacks I find work best. Really can't talk that loud with a mouthful!
