I've only had mine a few weeks and I'm still learning what I want to look at. I don't have any stills but I do have a few videos on youtube.
Yeah, that's what I do for a living... Forest fires ARE No-Fly-Zones, only those aircrafts fighting fires are allowed within a certain radius of the fire boundary (Normally 5 Nautical Miles). Sometimes more on major fires. Pilots are informed through NOTAMS (Notice to Airman) and will get fined if they go inside the no-fly-zone without authorization. Drones are a new thing and not many rules apply yet, but that is slowly changing... Buddy of mine flying the SkyCranes said they had to shut down one day last year on the California fires because the drones were a threat to their operations... Made for great footage, but probably cost a few houses and many acres burned... Back to hunting, here in Canada they are Illegal for spotting game.... And unethical if you ask me. just my two cents
Chopper dumb question what do you fly? I was up there a few years ago Cranberry Portage area and it was my first time fighting fire in Canada and flew every day. Canadian air operations are a little different than how we operate in the states but Canada kills far fewer firefighters than the US it was all good. No need to manifest if the ship can lift right?
Been on these two for the last 15 years or so... And yeah... it's just wood burning... not Worth dying for it. ! ...
Thanks to Canada I can say I have actually jumped out a flying aircraft to the fire ground, 1 thing I learned is that never be the first one to jump, watch the first guy go and see how far he sinks into the swamp then have the ship move to just a little higher ground before you jump.
I keep trying but my remote operated gun on the darn thing doesn't want to function properly. So far I've wounded about a dozen animals and have yet to recover any of them. It's fun though.
I may not shoot one down....as it seems illegal to do so...but I may purchase some cheaper ones and "accidently' kamikazi that crap!
When I was down in Florida I was in a park on the beach and there was a guy launching his drone and it was pretty cool he had a live feed to his I-phone.
I've heard of guys using them to fish for tuna. The line attaches using a rubber band or something. It flies out and they spot for tuna, put the bait in front of it. When the tuna strikes it breaks the band.
They can definitely be used for scouting. The newer ones fly a couple miles and have 4k cameras sending a single directly back to your phone or tablet. My buddy has watched deer in the winter with them, they spook pretty easily if you get to close though.
My buddy has one and has taken some sweet pictures/videos over the last year. Ill post some up when im not at work tomorrow.
I have a few videos posted on youtube. The only pictures I have are from the bowhunt or die meeting and Todd wont let me post them yet.
