    Gentlemen,

I'll be doing some calling for a guy who is putting together a turkey hunting video. He wants to focus on filming an archery hunt out of a blind. I'm game for whatever, but blind hunting (to me) is boring. Even when you're covered in birds, it's just not as exciting (to me), as when I'm buried in a deadfall or backed-up against a treetrunk in the open.

I'd prefer to get out of the blind and cover massive acreage the old-fashioned way, and get an awesome headshot on film with the shotgun.

So what would you guys rather watch in a turkey hunting video? A bow hunt out of a blind, or a shotgun hunt, where everybody is just backed-up against a treetrunk?

If the turkey(s) is (are) up close and personal to a shotgunner w/o a blind, then shotgun.

Archery w/blind if there are a ton of birds, and you have a lot of action. i.e. flogging the decoy, birds runnin in to the set, birds sparring etc.

Pretty much a toss up for me, pending there is a lot of action. Otherwise, watching turkey hunting bores me, and it's the same ol stuff. For a turkey hunt to be watchable, to me, you need something that doesn't happen everyday. I voted archery, because I don't hunt turkeys w/ shotgun.

Get in the blind, and take a head shot w the bow after a huge tom demolishes the decoy and runs off a plethora of jakes then mounts a hen!

    Good luck, either way!

I've done it both, and I truly prefer shotgun hunting turkeys. It's more of a chess match vs. a sit and pray one comes close enough approach.

To me it all depends on the action. I like both as long as there are birds around.

Personally I have only shotgun hunted for turkeys. I have had a blast doing it and will be doing it again this year. Where I live we do not have a large population of birds and it makes it very hard to bowhunt them. I turkey hunt for fun too and don't get extremely serious about it. I just have a blast hitting the woods and hunting something this time of the year.

I have a hard time watching turkey DVD's especially archery... I think tent hunts are boring. We just completed a new turkey DVD and decided to make it completly "Run & gun" its mostly shotgun, but we do have a bowhunt... The reaction was great, and the reviews all seemed to focus on the "no blind" type of hunting...
You can run and gun with a bow though, its just a lot tougher... Many of the birds we shoot in our DVD were shot while lying on our belly our from a crawling position. Not to easy to accomplish with a bow...

Fran I couldnt vote cause im saying Bow hunt with out blind. It can be done, I have done it many times. The only way im going to be in a blind is if its pouring and I want to be out there. Im like you blinds are boring and hot.
