I've got a 50% chance of showers for Friday and I'm on the fence about going. This is my first year bow hunting and my stand is in an old creek with tons of tracks, I call it the deer highway. I'm confident in my shooting out to 30 yards and confident in my bow. Would you guys go out? Granted I can't see the hour by hour yet on the weather channel but hopefully this front will break apart by then. I want to get out there so bad, just concerned about the tracking. What say you?
I'm going out tonight most likely. Depends on how much rain is coming down. Just because you go out hunting does NOT mean you MUST shoot a deer. Get it? Go, play it by ear. If you see a deer at 18yrds but its raining steady...I would hold off on the shot. If it's misting or just a sprinkle...I would shoot. Judgement call my friend. But you can't kill one from the couch.
Thanks Cablebob! True sitting on your butt will not get you a deer. WC says 50% showers possible and I know how these guys are that could change by tomorrow and not rain at all on Friday. Can't wait to get out there!
I primary stalk when it's raining. I'm able to do some in season scouting with stinking up the place. last year I went and saw no deer, but found an awesome place to hang a stand for the next hunt and that hunt was great.
I shot a doe and am buck last Saturday in a drizzle. Saw 10 deer in the first hour of light. FYI-saw 3 bucks and all seemed to be awfully interested in does!!!
