I want to hunt this first snow fall we have coming up in the next couple days but its suppose to be windy like 30 mph winds. My question is do you think the cold and snow will have the deer up on their feet even with the wind? Ill probably go either way just to sit out in the snow :p But i wanted to hear what you guys thought.

if it's going to be a hard and heavy one they will really move the day and night before around here and then wait til it's over....if it's looking like it's going to be prolonged(2 -3 days of) and very cold they will move pretty well around midday and early afternoon when it's warmest. Part of how I know if a storm is going to lay the whoop down is by the deer movement the day before - that afternoon and evening sit can be unbeleivable if its a doozy on the way.

I would the morning or evening before the storm hits. I personally love hunting as the snow falls as long as there isnt high winds. Light snowfall is the most beautiful and quiet time to be in the woods IMO

Snow is the most critical cause the deer have to work that much harder to get food. If you can't get the snow you gotta have cold temps low 30s or 20s ideal. Deer in general just don't like that wind. Unless you got a deep ditch or set of timber id lay off the windy days and once that dies down get out. This weekend looking for a big temp drop hopefully with some snow on the ground. Id say Fri and Sat should be very good.

i would def be out for sure.....you never know with the wind how they are going to be moving but i would say with snow on the way i wouldn't miss it for sure.....head out right before it's going to come down (night before is usually best in my experience) and i think you'll be surprised with the movement even at a high wind...just my 2 cents

I love sitting in a ground blind during a snow fall. deer are usually out trying to get thier bellys full before the ground gets covered.

When its cold and snowing and blowing.. they move good here right before dark, this time of year.. often gets the big boys up a little early.

Thanks for the feedback guys i was planning on sitting tomorrow (day before the storm) but now after hearing what you guys have said ill be out there for sure before the storm. Ill also sit when its suppose to snow just because i like being in a tree when its snowing and you never know what may come by.
