I was watching a hunting show today the were hunting big whitetail not sure where. So this huge buck w comes walking in and the hunter puts the pin on him and the camera man grunts the buck didn't stop and the guy shoots the deer on the walk and shoots it far back almost the rearend and said man I was shaking so bad and cold I messed up the shot badly but its ok because I'm shooting a rage and we will find him. I just laughed kinda like telling the watchers u don't have to practice if u use rage just hit the deer anywhere and u will get them. Don't get me wrong rage users I used them last year also. Just thought it was funny what he said

Yeah...thats not good...Everybody makes mistakes but its bad I think some folks just have that in their head that you can hit them anywhere anymore. Its definitely nice to know but you still gotta go for the sweet spot!!!

These hunting shows anymore, I have a hard time watching most of them. They're more or less a 30 minute infomercial for the products that are paying for the show. It's fairly easy to tell who the big players are in terms of marketing money spent. Matthews, Scent Lok, Rage, Block, etc.

I use this word with caution normally but, that right there is UNETHICAL!!!!! I am a new hunter as everyone already knows and if I were the average new hunter and I hope I am not, I would see that and think well, if you can hit them anywhere I am good to go. That just sends the wrong message to new hunters as well as some veterains. P A T H E T I C!!!

I hate watching most hunting shows anymore. I watched one show where a guy blatantly gut shot a deer, then said "Smoked him!!!!" They started tracking it almost immediately (after a morning hunt), then they made a "short tracking job". The thing was, all the recovery footage was shot in the dark. Interesting....

Hey get it right hank uses the SWACKER lmao
They are all Just as bad as watching those dam home shopping network shows now.
A bad shot is a bad shot no matter what.
A deer has dam near a 10x10 kill zone to be able to hit his lungs and or heart and most of these shows are so worried about "getting the shot for the camera that they take shots that just shoud'nt be taken. Then to top that off they are always acting like fouls after they shot. My favorite example is "booya"!
    Wht the hell is that?
Everytime I shoot a deer I sit back and say a lil prayer and appoligize to the deer for taking it's life.
I am not saying everyone should do that too but to promote acting like a jack azz on tv is just dumb.

There are some really BAD hunting shows on lately. Now adays, everyone with show is a "whitetail expert".... It drives me crazy!! It seems to me If you are wealthy, And can buy hunts and property, then your considered an expert. I wish I could put together a show with a few ol timers and some legit people I know of from this site and another. It wouldnt be all gimicky and crap. Just a good show with some Very knoledgable and proven bowhunters. No one would preach like there poop dont stink, and it would be funny and NOT CHEEZY!!!!! Hey , maybe on onto something here. Bowhunting.com roadtrips!!!

to me that was obviously nothing more than a sponsor plug. though i agree that some new hunters may misinterpret that as gospel since it was a "hunting show"

Most hunting shows are just plain disgusting anymore. I can't stand shameless sponsor plugs. IMHO, It's ok a say something like " I love these slick tricks!" but not ok to say " I dropped the string on my mathews and let that big ol' joker hold my carbon express tipped rage! Danggum!". I can't even watch a Primos video anymore, let alone Ted Nugent. Sad thing is, that one of my favorite videos to watch is becoming this way, the Drury's.

Anymore about the only show I will watch is Jim Shockey: The Professionals. With a few select DVD's tossed in there.

I actually have to second the Jim Shockey : The Professionals show. It's more "reality" than almost every single other show out there.

These shows are so commercialized anymore. I understand that the bills need to be paid and if X and Y company are paying for my butt to be there, I would need to make sure I give them the credit, etc., but these shows are getting ridiculous.

And I agree with the "everyone is a deer expert" comment. Sorry, but I feel that most average to good bowhunters can do what they do when placed on the properties they hunt on TV. Most of these shows are filmed on ranches and outfitter property. Most of the time, the stands are set by the operators of the property and these guys pay big bucks to them to have the stands left alone until they arrive to hunt and film. Essentially a red carpet is rolled out for them.

This is not to say that there are some very legit, good bowhunters on TV that can actually scout, place stands, and kill big bucks on a routine basis. But I'd be willing to bet they are fewer and farther between than what we're led to believe.

Thats one thing I like about the Drury's and Bill Winke. They tell it like it is and don't really sugar coat it much.

I'm not gonna talk junk about other shows because I think a lot of it comes down to sounding jealous. I don't know that there's many of us here that wouldn't love to have a full time job as a hunter.
