Dude, you have NO right to feel embarrassed. Your composition skills blow mine out of the water. The creek scene was tough to pull off, simply because I filmed myself in about 90% of the shots in this film. I filmed that shot in late September when water levels were decently high in the creek, so I set up the camera and tripod in the middle of the creek, pressed record, then ran through the creek, posed for the shot, ran back through the creek behind the camera and gave it a couple seconds for the empty scene, and then killed the shot. Playing it back on the LCD on the camera the shots looks identical, but the tripod must have slipped in the water, or I hit it or something to move it that little bit. It was a difficult to shot to do by myself, so I was pretty happy with it how it turned out, but it could have been much better. Unfortunately, no motion control for the time lapses. Added motion to those shots in post.
Thanks a lot everyone! I really do appreciate the kind words. Like I said in the OP, I wanted to accomplish something a little bit different with this film, so I wasn't sure if it'd be well received. Knowing that you guys appreciate the story and imagery more than anything makes me feel good!
great film! I have a newb question though on the close up of your nocks about halfway through it looked like you had ground off one side of it what is the gain of doing that? or was it just they way they looked in the angle of the shot?
Wow, That was absolutely beautiful! Great job sir, those time lapses were amazing! The whole idea of it was brilliant! Honestly you did an awesome job!
Thanks again for everyone for all the great compliments! I never thought this short would be as well received as it has. I'm blown away. Chopper - That's just the camera angle, my friend!
Fantastic video!!! As a fellow photographer, I can definitely appreciate the time and work it must've taken to create this!! The time lapse stuff was awesome!! I loved the frost disappearing from the car window sequence. I've watched a few of your videos and as someone who is brand new to hunting, your videos really create a strong emotion of wanting to get out and enjoy what nature has to offer. I can't wait to get out for my first hunt and your videos have definitely convinced me to bring my camera along as well. Once again, awesome job!
Im digging the three D's to succeed Desire Dedication Discipline that what I thrive on. Love the video Man you got major talent. Great Quality. OkieBowHunter
I used a Canon 7D for the majority of the shots, but a Sony AX2000 was used for a handful of the shots as well.
