My wife is shooting a prime centergy air at 40.5lbs. Right now she's shooting carnivore 100s with an 85g tip. What would be a good broadhead for her to hunt with?
I use Wac' ems, they are a 3 blade fixed broadhead, they come in 75 grain, 100 grain and 125 grain heads. They look alot like a g5 montec, killed my first deer with one of the them out of a 40# bow, Great results!
Is it what you killed the deer in your sig with? If so, I dont want it Lol. But seriously thanks for the info. I think I will add them to my short list
Slick Trick Standard 85 Grain (4 blade 1" cut) or Slick Trick Standard 100 Grain (4 blade 1" cut). your fine, we usually get a few a year that need to make 25 posts in a day or two, and they post one word at a time. As long as your active with your team nobody cares if you make a few extra.
100gr cut on contact such as a black hornet or muzzy phantom...also, I have to say Carbon Express makes a great Solid knockoff called the XT 4 blade that flies great and seems to be right up there quality-wise with many of the big boys. I really like that head. My wife shoots it out of her 42lb Jewel but hasn't shot a deer yet. If you want a mech then try the NAP low KE. I would stay away from anything under 100gr - the lightweights just lose KE so fast. With a 40lb bow she probably shouldn't be shooting anything over 30 yards anyway; so I wouldn't worry about 100gr being too heavy and dropping too fast. I think she will be happier with the penetration she gets out of a 100gr head vs. an 80 or less grain head.
I second this, at that draw weightvyour going to want a cut on contact! I’d also recommend the slick trick viper trick ! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I agree with the 100 gr. It'll retain more KE downrange and give you a better FOC percentage. I've had good luck with Slick Tricks in a few different setups at 100 and 125 grains. I also really liked the way G5 Montecs flew, but I wasn't very impressed with their sharpness.
Its funny how many times the broadhead question can be answered with a slick trick standard. Appreciate the help
I really like the Slick Trick Viper Trick. Penetration is outstanding and they were a breeze to tune. I am helping a friend get set up for his first year of bowhunting and he draws 45# at 29.5in and I set him up with those
I find this to be the best hunting set up for my wife.... Kidding! Please don't tell her, she is small but scary.
