This is a new one for me. I had a guy tell me last night that he was pulling 106lbs on his bow. :bash:

Heard a great one from a dad at football practice the other day... First the guy tells me he was on a bow hunt in UTAH for mule deer. Here are some of his best quotes.....

" Yeah I have been hunting these same 8 bucks for 5 years" " a couple of them are over 40 inches wide " I had them all walk by me at 70 yards, but didnt take the shot" Then later in the conversation he says. " I am very comfortable and dead on out to 100 yards" :)

I just smile & nod my head.

This is a pet peeve of mine, but when I say it I kind of feel snobbish?

But it annoys me when people give no size or age reference to their bucks. I'll run into someone and they'll say, "Hey Cody I shot a nice buck!" and I'll be like "Cool, how big?" "Oh, you know he was a big ole 10 pointer!!" Sometimes they even go into specific detail and say, "Big ole 10 point buck, 18 inch spread!" In fact, I had a buddy from school tell me shot a big 10 pointer over Thanksgiving break and I asked him what it scored and he replied, "10."

To me, that tells me absolutely nothing about the size of that buck. I remember talking with Ryan on the phone after he shot his 164 and he gave me green estimates of the bucks brows, 2s, 3s, spread, main beam, etc. It was refreshing.:fro:

But I know a lot of people aren't familiar with the scoring system or how to age a buck, which is totally fine. It's just a pet peeve of mine.

Lol Troy!! Some people I tell ya!!

Here's one that gets me!! By no means am I picking on gun hunters but I hear this every fricking year. "I saw a huge buck, he had to be at least a 16 pointer!!" I then say you must've been close enough to count all of the points then? Then their reply Is no but It had to have at least 16 points If he's that big. It's never an 8 or a 10 point. It's always 12 points and up.

Just leaving Applebee's where a manufacturer's rep I'm working with all day and I had lunch... The pic of me and my elk is my desktop background on my laptop, and the waitress came by and started oohing and awwing... then mentioned something about it being hard to catch.

Told her "Nope, he laid right there and let me walk right up to him after I shot him; he wasn't hard to catch at all."

    Here's your sign.

I'm with Buckeye on this one, the thing that far bothers me the most are the slobs in the box stores the night before. There, I said it. Call me what you will but that's what they are. There might be 1 in 100 that had a bow failure at the last minute and has a 20 yard range in the basement and is gonna get set up and be good to go in the morning, but that's being generous.

I used to let a lot of things get me worked up come hunting season. I worried about everything except myself. These days, I let the chaos erupt around me while I focus on what I need to accomplish. I could care less what other people are doing every day.

-Coworkers joking that i must be hunting a preserve after they ask me what I'm seeing. when in actuality, i scout more than they hunt and i hunt public land.

-People saying they found good blood, when its not good blood. Its more than a few drops so its good to them. (they have no idea what lung and heart blood looks like)

-people not seeing where they hit the deer and not being able to find theirarrow but they immediately start trailing the deer.

    - everybody talking about rage broadheads

I get annoyed with the " is this a shooter"? or "should I take this buck"? or things of that nature. Why does anyone need people on an internet forum to tell them what to shoot?

Or I made a bad shot but I know this deer will live, because he is a super deer with a 1 1/8 hole running thru his body and it has no affect.
