Since its deer hunting season, most deer hunting forums are busier than the rest of the year. This usually results in some of my favorite, predictable, and annoying threads/posts of the year. Most of these can happen at any time of the year, but some are more popular during the season. Here's a few I see on local boards... - Blaming the broadhead for a bad shot - Broadheads don't fly like field points, so its the broadhead's fault - Calling fawns, yearlings - The rut is early, after seeing the first yearling buck chase/grunt - The rut is late - Scent Lok works - Scent Lok doesn't work - The youth hunt ruins bow season - The DNR is ruining hunting - Bad neighbors - Baiting (always a fun topic in MI) So what are some you see in your neck of the woods?
"We missed the rut this year" Seriously, some hunters honestly think that the rut did not happen. Back home in Virginia, and possibly everwhere for that matter, when asked when and where hunters have the most luck they respond with, "At night with my spotlight on county road 639!"
"Help! I think I hit one, what do I do?" "I bumped a deer walking in, is my hunting ruined for the season?" I too love the rut is early/late threads. Don't forget small gamers ruining people's hunts. Somebody else shot MY deer, those are good ones.
People that claim to see tons of deer while hunting, then you go with them multiple times and never see anything...
Haha, I'm pretty sure Ben probably thinks this about me. I will text him from stand saying I saw four here one day, three another, passed a doe, etc. Never have much to show for it, though:D
Hahaha! Or they ask what time they should be in the stand with the time change. Uh, an hour earlier. Some good ones so far. This stuff cracks me up, but I'm easily entertained.
I don't want to over hunt my set, can I sit in your's? You have any spare BHs, I only have these 3 and I've been practicing with them, they sure are dull. Can my wife sit in your pop-up? she is afraid of heights. I was asked all of these questions this past weekend. I am a very accomodating person and answered yes to all of the above, however, I gave the 2 guys that asked those 3 questions an earful about preparation for the season.
-- The DNR is ruining hunting (in Wisconsin).. Or at lease caused great harm to the heard. And yes they have finally listened and learned and yes the ship has been righted and we are headed in the right direction now. - Bad neighbors If someone has bad neighbors why is it a bad thing to post and talk about that? Just asking. Otherwise, yes dead on.
MI is the land of small parcels. On the MI hunting forums, it seems like everyone has a problem with their neighbor. He shoots too many deer, he won't shoot does, he shoots small bucks, he tresspasses, he sits on the property line, he tracks deer on my property without asking, he baits, etc. I listed "Bad neighbors" because it seems there are a never ending supply of these threads on MI boards.
Nah, it's more when you told me you didn't have any good bucks and yet you shot one last year that was with a shooter when you shot him and then when I showed up to help you look, we practically had to swerve to miss another. THEN, heard two bucks sparring in the moonight..........but he's got no good bucks.
