Evaluating hunting packs on the market. Looking for a day/overnight pack in the 2500 cu. in. range. For bow hunting. Want a narrow pack that I can strap my bow to. Looking at SG, Mystery Ranch and Sitka. Anyone have any feedback on SG or Mystery Ranch? Thanks!

Looked at the MR Metcalf and the EXO 3500 for western hunting. The MR is a great pack in all ways, but I bought the EXO. It boiled down to the side pockets for my spotting scope. The 3500 has a removable lid and tightens down to a great size day pack. Didn’t care for the SG, good frame, but just seemed like one big bag. You won’t go wrong with the MR, but I’d look at EXO too.

I have had several MR packs. Right now I have a Plinter and metcalf on guide Lite frames. I really like MRs load hauling ability and they fit me well. You will not find better produced pack anywhere. However their downside is the weight. They are heavier then a lot of comparable pack. I have also owned Kifaru, Exo, sitka, Kuiu, and several other packs.

Your main decision is if you want a load shelf on the pack and if not then it opens up a ton more options.

Have a SG, excellent hauler, but a little much for day use. Picked up an Eberlestock X2 and recently used it on my daughter's cow elk hunt. Perfect for single day use and carries an initial 30# load with ease.

Wish I would have had it in Sept...
