This is something I have considered in the last few years. I am not making any plans for this...yet. Just looking around at different outfitters and cost as well as just getting away and having fun. I am most interested in outfitters that hunters here have dealt with personally. I also could just be dreaming about the big hunt. LOL. I have been looking mostly at states that I have seen on video or tv. So, if there is another outfitter in a state I don't mention that someone would suggest, please chime in. I am mostly interested in whitetail, but would consider other game as well. I would like to keep the cost between $1500-$3000. Texas and Montana do come to mind as well as Iowa. There are some big deer in Texas. One last thing I will mention but shouldn't have to, "Strictly Bowhunt Only". LOL.
Whitetail Heaven Outfitters in Nicholasville Kentucky. First class operation! Great people, great food and huge deer. I went on a late season muzzle loader hunt and the temps were far too warm the four days I was there but the night I got to camp a guy shot a 175" 10 point. They own or lease over 9000 acres in the state and I believe it will be even more this year as they are somewhat new and expanding each year. They had two 200" deer on camera this past season to my knowledge. They also offer the rare opportunity to bow hunt them in velvet. Although I didn't see any big deer while I was there, I'll definitely be back one day because the deer are definitely there it's just a matter of getting good weather. The guides are young but know every piece of every farm they own and they will do everything to put you on deer.
Outdoor partners in Illinois is where I go every year. It's a DIY outfitter. If you want a trophy whitetail your way, placing your stands, where you want, scout for them your way on your own private farms. I passed on a few 130 class bucks and saw quite a few bigger ones outside of bow range. They truly focus on the hunters experience, and take pride in extremely low pressure farms. In my sig I have a few videos of my experience there, including one of the 130 class bucks I passed on. Definitely check out the outdoor partners website. I travel/drive there from RI.
