    Hey y'all,
I Hunt on public land which makes it extremely hard to manage deer. I have out a few trail cameras to get an idea of what type of deer are in my area, but when season rolls around, I don't know what bucks are harvested and what aren't. I can't plant food plots or any of that thing because the land is owned by a farmer out behind my house and he lets some other people hunt and he doesn't want his land ruined. Any advice on how to make the season more successful is greatly appreciated!

If possible I'd talk to others hunting area. Sometimes that turns out to beneficial if your all have same goals. Also so your not stepping on top of eachother. If your able to get out and do some scouting look for trails deer are using and if its a farm that has different crops on it chances are once those crops get harvested the deer will be in those areas picking through what's left. All just depends on what's around and how the land is set up, where I hunt its mainly all agricultural ground with little wooded areas so my best bet is to either set up on those food sources already there or where the deer travel to get to better cover.

Good luck and sure of you got any questions somebody on here can answer about anything.

Public land is just that public land. Stop letting the tv shows influence you and just enjoy the hunt. Keep in mind a nice fat doe is a trophy as well. I have been hunting public land for about 12 strait years now and have killed some nice bucks. But not every year. I hunt public land exclusively and will not set foot on private land, why you ask? Because I think public land hunting is still the way hunting was meant to be. You hunt for them and not bring them to you. Just my opinion though.

Thanks everybody. And yes hunting on public land proves to challenge me every year. The reward I feel is far greater though knowing that you've accomplished something that few are able to because thy hunt big private farms.
