It's a little confusing to me, the process by which one gets a hunting license to bow hunt. I just want the straight route. Seems to me like there are endless, unnecessary courses that I can pay for. Any help. I'm in California.
.......... Just go to a store that sells them... Like a local sporting goods store or outdoors store... and buy one. Pretty easy. But if you have not hunted before in your life, a hunters education class would be a good idea to help you get started. You can learn about these classes and find out where to sign up at the same stores you buy the license at. Happy Hunting.
Thanks guys but on the hunting-ed.com there is a link to bowhunting-ed.com, which provides a similar class, which then qualifies you for a required California Bowhunter Field Day Exercise?
if you followed the link i provided in my post to your california department of fish and game and actually read that section, it is a california law that requires you to have a hunters education course, that is the official site you need to read and find your hunting laws for your state.
There's a difference between a Hunter's Education Course and a Bowhunters Safety course. You two appear to be talking about two different courses. In GA a Hunter's Ed class is required but a Bowhunters class is not. I know some states out West require both.
didn't see the bowhunting part. though to get a license to hunt at all a hunter education course is still required whether bowhunting or not. at least that is what that state's fish and wildlife website says. same thing here in tennessee, no bowhunting ed is required but to even get a license a hunter education is required. so if the OP does not even have a hunting license for California in order to get one he would have to do the hunter education course, then apply for the license. pretty much what i was getting at
I understood what you were getting, it just appeared that you and the OP were talking about different courses.
