I have a XL2 with no water proof case to go with it, Would you reccomend hunting in the rain? Any ideas of what I can do to keep the camera as dry as possible?

There really isn't a solid alternative to a waterproof case. You can use the umbrella deals but those are about as worthless as a three dollar bill IMO. For the time being, I wouldn't film in the rain... that's a lot of $$ to be risking...

Same here, I wish I had an alternative though. I had one of my best nights last year in a monsoon.

Just a tiny bit of moisture can mess up a camera. If it does get damp... be sure to dry it out thoroughly.

I took my camera out in a light sleet.... and just put it in to the truck overnight to dry it out... then the next morning I had two really nice (140's and 160-ish) bucks come in and the dang camera quit filming and just flashed some moisture warning at me. That was actually more annoying than both bucks passing just out of range. (one at 40 yards, the other at 37) grrr.

Honestly, you're taking over $4K worth of camera equipment into the woods with you, spend $100 to protect it.

Last year we had a heavy afternoon storm come through and I put my camera cover on and 20 minutes later filmed my buddy shooting a buck. If I didn't have that cover the camera would have been off the tree arm or out of commission. It's really a no brainer.

Man, I didn't think there were 2 people in the entire world that liked those things... let alone 2 on the same website!!! :D

If I've got $4k in camera equipment out in the rain, I want the entire thing covered... Also like Christine mentioned, it only takes a couple drops of "spatter" to make the whole thing go haywire...

If I ever get another one of those things ya'll two can fight over it. :D

ah yeah, it doesnt even take rain, just some mist and high humidity... cost me about a grand a year ago.. while filming a sturgeon trip. Take every measure to keep that camera dry or dont use it on chitty rainy days.. I learned the hard way.
