If you get a hold of something shoot me a PM. I'm on the lookout myself, and maybe a huntin partner. I'm new to SoCal, new to the town I'm in and nobody I work with hunts, much less bow hunts.

Check out the Tejon ranch wild pig management hunts; they run about 500 or so.

Is there any public land hunting? I was hoping to do this without a guide, like back on the east coast. But the more I look in to it, the more discouraged I get. I live in the SBNF, and I can understand a ban on rifle hunting with the population density here. I saw a couple of guys last October on the side of a trail my 4x4 group was running with a buck in the bed in the NF, waiting on the DFG guy we passed about a mile later. So that got my hopes up, but on the other hand I hear a lot of horror stories of guys getting their gun(s) and vehicles confiscated by the Gestapo(PD) while hunting. Illegally confiscated. Now, I take these crazy wild eyed stories with a grain of salt, but I don't want to end up another victim of the Commifornia Corrupt System. Sorry, dang auto correct. Meant to type California Justice System.

The only reason I had any hope of hunting here is because I've been told that us active duty folks get priority for choice of hunting area. Once again, shake salt over that.

There are some military bases that allow public hunting (Fort Hunter Liggett and Camp Roberts). I do believe active military get some kind of preferential treatment at the bases.

I know about the military bases that allow hunting and that we get preference there, but I also heard that the hunting there is bunk. Guess I'm going to have to find out. Either way, I'm going to find a way to get myself in a legal stand this fall.
