I'll be in florida Feb. 17-24 and have 2-3 days open and wondering what there is to hunt in that time period and if there are any guides to look into. Sent from a note in a bottle.
What part of FL, there is quite a bit of public land and lots of hogs in the panhandle... I also have a buddy who has a high fence exotic and hog operation near Sarasota
Florida is loaded with hogs and i'm pretty sure if you asked the ranches nicely, they would have no problems letting you take them out. You also have River lakes Conservation area near by so you should be able to fins some hogs.
I wish it worked that way, even here in GA where hog are becoming a major problem farmers realize they are a cash crop and most will let you hunt for a fee but not free...kind of like cutting your nose off to spite your face..
CHECK out Tosohatchee WMA, and see if it's open also Charles H. Bronson State Forest which has hunting..
I've only hunted hogs on one other time and it was in Texas. So do the same same hunting strategies apply or are hunting these florida hogs a bit different? Sent from a note in a bottle.
Spot and stalk or just slowly still hunt into the wind since you don't have time to set up a bait site, as you know hogs have poor sight however they can detect movement pretty good their sense of smell is like a blood hound if they smell you your done.
Look into Westshore Outfitters and Osceola Outfitters. Both are very close to Cocoa Beach and both offer GREAT hog hunts at very low prices. I'm sure you will be happy with either one of those places and they both have websites you can check out. Just keep in mind that Florida has an estimated pig population of approx. 1 million throughout the state. So your chance of success is very high. I would also like to mention that you will not need a license of any kind to hog hunt on private land in Florida. Good luck!!
What he said. Depending how far you are willing to go, Mallory swamp WMA is full of them and all public land.
