What's everyone's thoughts on this? I've killed most of my deer later in the season when its almost sleet/ snow flurries but it's in the low 50s here today and supposed to get cooler by this evening. Supposed to have a nice steady light rain all afternoon. Do you guys chance hunting in rain? Only thing that really worries me about it is following a blood trail.

    Heck yes.

Can't shoot them from the dry couch indoors.

I don't mind a mist...but rain drops, no sir..I just don't care to get wet... been doing this too long now and killed enough that I can sit out a day if it's actually raining.. misty or spitting light rain is fine, but actual rain drops nope

In my experience a good steady rain kills the deer movement for me. I use those days to scout and hang stands etc.
When I do hunt and there is rain I always keep in mind that I don’t have to take the shot. Tracking and recovering deer is a mixed bag. Sometimes it’s so easy and other times it’s near impossible. Rain isn’t going to make it any easier that’s for sure.

I’m hoping to get out ahead of the rain this afternoon myself. Hopefully it holds off.

I'll do it if it's the right time of the year. But October 21st? Nah, I'll pass on the rain. November 11th is another story though....

How about deer movement after a rain/thunderstorm front has moved through? Rain seems to have calmed down for the day but wind is still gusting .

Misting rain, yes. Pouring rain, no.

I actually enjoy and look forward to hunting in the snow or a light mist/rain.

It’s a lot more fun in the truck too! ;)

2 words. Ground Blind. As long as it’s not a Monsoon. If I’m hunting ducks though......well that’s another story

If it's going to rain all afternoon and not stop, then no. If it's expected to stop, then yes, I want to be there when it does.

I have a strict rule about bowhunting in the rain.......I don't. Too much chance of the blood trail washing away if you shoot something. Now after the storm, that's a different story. I want to be there immediately cause I've seen a ton of movement as soon as the storms quit.

    Blessings...........Pastorjim

A light rain or mist can be great. If it is raining, I sit it out, but only to catch the movement after the rain stops. Last year on November 12, I sat through three hours on and off rain. It quit by 11:30 am. By 2pm, when I had to leave, I had seen 14 deer, three in range, and one doe missed.:bigcry:

I’d only be out in it if it was my only time to hunt otherwise to windy for me.
