Is it me or is dragging a doe by the back legs against the grain of the hair more exhausting than dragging a buck by the antler? When it comes to dragging a doe out I just carry a 3' length of rope to tie around the neck.

Yep Okie you lasso the front legs and neck together and pull. I used to have one with a metal clip to hold the line tight around the neck and legs and had straps that went around the shoulders like a back pack made dragging a doe easy.

The best drag ever made was called the snap drag em. It was simply a hook that went through a deers nostrils with a strap and a handle at the other end. A deers nose is tough enough to hang the deer by it.

The only problem is I can see most people not wanting to drag a mountable buck out by the nostrils and risk messing anything up. So you're limiting your market quite a bit from the get-go. Hence "was" and not "is".

I do like Sota - lasso the front legs around the head/neck and drag her out that way. HSS harnesses have a built-in loop on the back of the harness just for dragging purposes. Works great - just need to make sure you have a long enough rope so the deer doesn't hit your heels as you walk.
