After wanting to getting into bowhunting for years I have dedicated myself to do some serious hunting in 2015. I am in Southwest FL (Sarasota), and am a complete newbie. I am planning to hunt hogs and possibly deer. Just looking if anyone had any good books/articles/advice to get me started.

    Thanks!

Do you own or have access to hunting grounds?

Check out Nickie Roths Archery outfitters near Arcadia.

I am actively searching for some private land to hunt on, But as of now my plan is probably Green Swamp Or Ocala area. Also Myakka SGA has a decent hog harvest as well.

Green swamp, Santa Fe and many other WMA's have good hogs. There are a lot of management areas that have good archery only deer hunting portions a little further north. Blanding, Cary and Jennings.

My grandma lives there on a place where deer are protected. I saw this guy with tons of racks in his barn so I asked him how he shot them and he owns land right next to the protected area and hunts next to protected areas around the area. Then I know some places will give out tags to keep the population under control (I have some in for an arboretum here) but you have to know the right people.

If your planning to hunt Green Swamp during archery season, you need some extra equipment. 5 quarts of blood and 4 thermacells for the mosquitoes.
