Duke used the heads and didn't like them. I don't think he needs to buy more G5 heads every year to reaffirm the fact that he doesn't like them. Sorry madhunter, but you are REALLY coming off as a G5 fanboy on this one.
Because I am. But if you aro anyone else were ot read the entire back and froth you would see that his remarks were more than just the Montecs. It was bashing a company and all of its products based on one, and he made claims on the other two heads without ever shooting them. Am I a G5 fanboy, sure I am. But for no other reason than I believe in their products.
OK, I could have been more clear. Since you have some of them, take one out and look at the design. You will see that they do not have that steep of a cut on the blade compared to the cut on the blade of the replaceable blades. The point is extremely sharp and yeah the "blades" can be made to be very sharp, but without changing the angle of the grind some do not consider it "sharp". I think that is the issue that some people have. Sorry if that was a bit confusing. Try this too, take one and push it through paper. It slices through and cuts beautifully all the way through. the take a Muzzy and try that same thing, it requires more effort to break through the paper but the blades cut, well like razors. Item number 2, sharpness of broadhead. The Montec IS sharp, right from the tip. and will cut beautifully. Please, do not get me wrong. The Montec is sharp, right from the tip.
Also, for those that are interested in the Montecs, they have released a Montec CS (Carbon Steel) which will get sharper and hold an edge better. Plus for those who care about marketing, they are black!
The Magnus BHs will feel much more sharp as the blade angle is much more severe. The Montecs, by design have a 60* angle, where as most others that I am aware of anyway are more around 30*. For one piece heads, I never understood the NEED for out of the package razor sharpness, I mean, one would think the person will still have to learn to touch them up and resharpen them after practicing or shooting an animal. Either way, at some point you HAVE to sharpen these heads, so to do so to begin with shouldn't be that big of a deal. For replaceable blade BHs, I can understand the want for immediate results as you can just replace them and never need to sharpen them. IF I ever shoot a one piece design BH, it will be a Magnus as well though. They are GREAT heads, cheaper than most, and have a no bs lifetime replacement policy.
And while we're on the subject of hunting show advertisements. I have to mention the audience they sell to. It's obvious from all the commercials that you all must come up a little "SHORT" in the spine or shaft department. I mean, otherwise, why would they advertise all these "Male Enhancement" products during hunting shows. It's obvious none of you have had that 4 hour erections that requires "Immediate" medical attention. Think "BIG"... I mean a "LOT Bigger". LOL Why don't we have these adds on during the Home Shopping Club shows, or Rosey(does she even have a show anymore)? But anyway, ya'll are a bunch of limp dips evidently. Come on now... who here has Bob as a hero figure. LOL
I made a post about this exact thing a while back. Does the whole world think us hunters are a bunch of old limp Richards? Every other commercial on the hunting shows is about viagra, cialis, enzyte, and smilin Bob gets more air time than Tiff.
Look at the back pages of an outdoor life.We should all chip in for an ad and have about 100 of us in a photograph that says these are not the faces of erectile dysfunction!
Again.. I'm NOT bashing G5.... ugghhhhhh. I'm simply pointing out how I don't care for them. I already gave my examples.. so I don't think there's a need to go there.. so I won't. I'll simply add.. G5 makes like what 3 broadheads.. of those 3.. 2 of them had problems (even slight) when they first came out.. which is basically 67%. User or otherwise they were still a flaw in design. Which says to me.. either their "engineers" are kinda stupid or don't hunt.. or they were just looking for a quick buck.. And take no offense to the word engineer.. I work with them all the time.. they are stupid. I dunno.. seems kinda silly to back a company with these early results.. I don't care what company that is. I mean.. NAP makes like 20 heads.. if they had minor failures on their first year introductions as high as 67%.. which is 12 out of 20.. I wouldn't care for them too much either.
