I'm certainly not immune from being swayed by some marketing, but mostly it's "marketing" done by members on forums like this one recommending a new product.

As a side note. I RARELY, and I mean RARELY, watch many hunting shows anymore. Aside from all of the marketing, I just feel like they're getting more and more corny. The hunters are terrible in front of the camera, they say STUPID things after the shot, their reactions after the shot make me want to punch myself in the face most of the time, etc.

I'm really wanting to pick up a copy of WKP's DVDs, because I feel (at least from what I've heard on here) is that they are actually well done.

I don't know how this is any different than "Tiger" endorsing Buick or anything else under the sun. It's good ol' fashioned marketing and it works or the advertisers wouldn't do it. I've bought things because of the advertising hype and sometimes the product lived up to expectations and sometimes it didn't. I try to do my own research most of the time before buying any product. Some companies excel at producing quality products and I usually lean toward those regardless of who advertises it. I think we are intelligent enough to sift through the personalities.

Up in arms? Hardly. I was just looking for some insight into why you feel G5 makes a poor head as that has not been my experience.

I told you I like Strikers because they are sharp, accurate, and durable. I'm actually starting to question whether you even have any experience with this head. I use equipment that works...not because it looks cool.

Okay.. fair enough.. your right.. I have not shot the Striker.. but I never laid claim to it either.

I'm simply commenting on G5.. and all their broadheads as a whole as compared with other companies as a whole. I can see where you mistook it.. as it was implied since I chose your quote to answer.

    But.. since you went there.

The Striker is easily G5's best head.. no doubt.. but I still believe there are many better.

My problem with G5 is simply... lack of trust.. let's face it their track-record for mistakes and do-overs is overwhelmingly high.. so why would anyone shoot them?

For example.. they came out with the Montec in like 95'... a good.. solid head with ALOT of potential.. but then they screw up and make the head worthlessly dull and even harder to sharpen.. thus after 2 years on the market they finally make new and improved ones. Okay fine.. but now you've likely lost loads of faith by first time buyers (like myself).

Let's bring in the Tekkan.. I mean come on.. who buys those crappily made things?\

Then.. the Striker.. a better concept as now one can change blades.. but with flaws.. and once again loosing valuable customers. If you want at least 1 of its flaws.. its o-ring.. which originally was made from a soft metal (so its cheaper I might add) and caused the head to "buckle" when hitting a target.. even destroying arrow shafts (at least somewhat).

So why on earth would I ever shoot their heads? EVER?

They've proven on may occasions their own in-ability to make it right the first time. And I'm sorry.. but it's just not worth it for me to leave better run companies for what "might" go wrong.

Hey.. I don't care what head anyone shoots.. never will. The Striker is a great head (now).. but I don't care for the company behind it.. they LOST me years ago when they screwed up the already released Montec.

Ok..Thanks for the explanation...that is all I was looking for. The Striker is really the only head G5 makes that I have liked. I guess I will use them as long as they keep working for me. I'm not overly loyal to any brand. Marketing certainly does play a huge part in what many people choose...but I don't think it does for me. I shot Steelhead 100's for 8 years and I don

Well it is obvious that you do not like the G5 line of broadheads, but you rant is just that. I do not claim to know everything about G5, but it is very clear that you do not either.

Every company that begins has times when they create a product that needs to be refined, including G5. Fact is the Montec is a great head and that there are many hunters that like the

Interesting you say that. Just today I was at the archery range trying various broadheads with my different setups and another hunter came up and we started talking broadheads.... We talked about the various broadheads we had both shot over the years and just out of the blue he mentioned he had bought some G5 BH's a few years back and would never buy them again. Sounded like he had some durability issues mainly. In one case he said the broadhead actually snapped off after hitting a big buck in the shoulder - he said he's never seen anything like it....

Just because a BH Isn't sharp means It's not good? The BH's I use don't come sharpened, I have to sharpen them. It would be nice If they were sharpened but oh well I guess.
