I already have the Duke Edition Beannie! As for names on products when are we going to see the Duke and JZ edition items on the market? I mean after all they have won Campbell's with JZ being the only 2 time winner ever!!!

These last couple of years I have really slowed down on ALL hunting related media. This wasn't intentional, it just happened. I went through it once before.

The last 2 shows I watched were Peakruts dvd's exactly 1 year ago. Dan Infalts Marsh Bucks and WKP Todds most recent one. They were very good. I'm going on my 2nd year with no subscriptions to any magazines as well. I don't miss it, at least not yet. I'll be back with it again some time.

All of the adds and whackyness of the TV shows played a big part in it. I may just go to all DVD's and get the ones I want.

The Bone Collector series is sort of a joke, but I think they Bone Collector stuff is pretty cool still. Chuck Adams - "It is like throwing an axe at an animal" (Rage commercial)

The G5 Strikers I shoot are very sharp, accurate, and durable. I'm really not sure what more I could expect from a head?

I purchased them based on many positive recommendations from people on bowhunting forums.

Justin, I completely agree. Although I am on their ProStaff I have been using the Montec since it was first introduced. Why did I buy it? probably the cool factor as you call it, but I continue to because of its unmatched durability.

Although they have added the Montec CS, which will get a little sharper, it is the Montec desigm that prevents the "blades" from being razor sharp. Just one look at the angle any you could see that, and the CS is no different, just that it is carbon steel.

I think that the Rage is selling so well because it also has been marketed very well. In fact if I remember right, it was called something else before and did not sell as well. I can get that info if someone needs it, but it is a fact. Marketing changes how we perceive a product to preform. Take Camo for example, look at that industry and the two real big names, Realtree and Mossy Oak. Some guys think that if they have that on they are invisible to a deer.

Hunting and fishing are multi BILLION dollar industries and in order to continue growth they must advertise, hence we see names of "professionals" on the gear we use.

Wow.. say 1 little comment about something and everyone's up in arms. :d

If you look at the whole spectrum of broadheads on the market today.. there's a TON out there.. let's face it.

While G5 makes an alright head.. one that WILL clearly get the job done (but so will 98% of all the other heads on the market too).. let's not kid ourselves.. there's better heads. They just don't get marketed better.. that's all I am saying.. no need to wonder or think any further than that.

If examples are what you seek.. try NAP or Sliktrik (maybe misspelled).. both companies make a likely better head but with FAR less the advertising..

Let's face facts.. people LOVE the young look of G5.. the cool blue in a in your face font.. and it sells.

The less flashy NAP or sliktrik are better heads.. just with less marketing flair. And there are other heads as well I would put before G5.

And your probably wondering why I say NAP and Sliktrik make better heads (and others not mentioned).. I'm simply going off sharpness of blades and function.. maybe that's not what your looking for in a head.. but I am.

Or like when the 'Primos crew' puts on their Primos Bow sling (also getting a perfect shot of it on camera) to walk over to the deer they just shot - which happens to be only about 30 yards from the tree.....

How about the new box target with Lee and Tiff's faces on it? If buckmasters came out with a Jackie Bushman rifle target, I'd buy a gross. :D

Seriously. The other week when there was a thread on him being America's top bowhunter, I was feeling ashamed for questioning it after many were hurt over it :deer:, but if you're America's top bowhunter, I'd surely think you would have something more intelligent to say than that.

I am kind of a minimalist when it comes to hunting gear.I carefully select what I use and then I use it until it eithers wears out, breaks or fails in some other way.As an example I have a dozen and a half of carbon express arrows that I have had for three or four years,I have about 12 broadheads that are new and have had for a few years,I have killed many animals with the same broadheads and they have worked perfectly,I have no reason to purchase more.
It seems that the influence of marketingis that it gets someone to look at a product(obvious right?)to check it out,to wonder if it will work better than what they are presently using.
I rely much more on the word of mouth from folks like everyone here and other sites.Once you have reasonably good equipment all the I have to have stuff is just a distraction. With the exception of the Duke Michaels hat of course.I will not take to the woods this year with out one!
