I wouldn't go so far to say you haveta spend couple hundred for quality. I've got a camelbak pack that spent 120 on that's made it through 3 years in the Corps and countless hunting trips in the five years I've been home. I haven't found anything wrong with the quality of the $70 dollar trash bag I bought this year. I agree sometimes you pay for what you get but saying other products are junk because they don't have big price tag is goin a little far.

I've noticed all the old dudes have fleece backpacks. I bet you could snipe one on ebay for cheap.

Mystery Ranch packs weigh more than the contents within.

Kifaru Timberline is the best pack on the market IMO and my next purchase as well... But it is utterly useless for 90% of the guys simply walking into a treestand. I have a $20 pack for that that works marvelous.

    Different packs for different purposes.

I have and recommend a TimberHawk Rutbuster pack. I had issues with the first one, I wont lie about that but the customer service is TOP NOTCH and they hooked me up with a brand new updated version and it is flawless!!

I also am a fan of a few of the Redhead packs as well!

If your just walking to a tree stand or letting someone else haul all the meat you can get by with a small Chinese pack.

If your actually backpack hunting a Mystery Ranch crew cab is worth it's weight in gold.

One man loaded over 180 pound chunk of moose, the photo is floating around the net somewhere.
