Born before Jan. 1, 1973 is the grandfathered in date. Not sure when you were born but the DNR system is actually very good at catching it. It needs to b-day before that date or a hunters ed number in the system before you can process a license.
I have been a Colorado certified NBEP/hunter ed. Instructor for 6 years. I have my IBEP/NBEP certifications as well as my normal Colorado Hunter Ed. certification. Many states and foriegn countries require such certificates for archery hunting within their boundries or given "bow only areas"-without exception.
I have my original Hunter Safety piece of paper stashed somewhere. I too took that in the early 70's in NY. Along with it is my first IBEP card. I also have my NBEF instructor card and VA Hunter Ed instructor card, the last being like a credit card.
Got mine and have it in my wallet. I just missed the caught off to be grandfathered in to hunt ND. Anyone born after Dec 1961 had to take it. Tim
I have mine, State of Louisiana requires it. And up to last year you had to have a Bowhunting Education Card and Hunters Education Card.
OK, its a long story, so to make it short can anyone show me what one of these cards looks like? Thanks!
Do all the states look the same? Is there anyway someone can scan a card an email it to me for a powerpoint presentation? I don't need personal information, just looking for an acurate and clear image of a bowhunter education card. This is for a course I am teaching as a law enforcement officer, I'm not a bowhunter so I do not have ready access to this information. Thank you again.
Took hunter safety in 1965. Have no idea where the card is. Called the Izaak Walton League (who ran the course back then) and they don't have records that far back. In Iowa, if you are born after Jan 1, 1972, you have to have the hunters education card to get a license.
I believe my hunter safety card is around here some where. It's been nearly twenty years. I guess this thread is a good reason to go hunting for it. C
Can't you just call your state's game and fish department, explain your situation, and then have them send you/e-mail you a generic hunters education card? They could even label up the card as "Johnny Law Enforcement" with a date of 1/1/2345 so as to prevent unauthorized useage?
My hunter's safety card from back in the late 70's is tucked away somewhere, my bowhunters safety card is in my wallet. I remember having to use it when I went to Alberta on the hunters-host program. Havent had to use it since on any other trip out of state.
I orginally got mine back in 1981 then I have taken it twice since then with my son and helping another family out. I also have the international bowhunters education card for over seas that I had gotten years ago but I think they have changed their name since.
I took the class 20 years ago. I just went through the class with my son last week again. It is interesting to see the differences in what they teach in that time frame.
I took the course back in the early 80's when i was in High school even though It wasnt required back then. I wore the card out long ago and even though I knew they could make me another from looking at the records, I took the course again when my oldest son too the course. glad you got your new one
