How many of you guys actually have a physical hunters ed card?

I got invited to go on a muley hunt this November in ND and when I was filling out the app for the tag yesterday they asked for my hunters ed card number. I realized I didn't have the card, haven't for some time now. I took the class back in the early 80's, so, I called the Michigan DNR and they found the record of it and are sending me a new one! Awedome!

I have mine. When I travel away from home to hunt I take it to camp with me. Otherwise it is at home in a safe spot. If I lost it, I would get a new one right away.

I just got my hunters ed instructor card in the mail yesterday. I have been a bowhunter ed instructor for about a year now. I keep all 4 cards, student and instructor along with my hunting license in my wallet.

No such item here in PA. Even the hunter safety course card is a joke. Unless you are 12, 13, 14ish, you can walk into nearly any local walmart and get yourself a license, no questions asked.

Here is Wisconsin you have to have your hunters certificate number in the database before you buy a license statewide. It is very strictly enforced in Wisconsin.

No hunters ed? Than no license.

I did the same thing for awhile until it kept getting destroyed from the daily wear and tear.

Don't listen to him. He doesn't get out of his neck of the woods and that's how it works there. If you're applying for a license, , outside of where Ben lives, and don't have last year's you get asked 100% of the time for your safety card. If you don't have the card you get denied.

The only reason they don't ask is if you have a previous PA license. The reason, they can't deny you one if you can show you've previously owned a license (even if you never took the course). I called the game commission in 2007 regarding some legalities and that's the info they gave me.

Otherwise it is a joke. No need for it other than applying for a new license.

I took the class the 1st time (like you, BHF) in the late 70's era. I took it, again (with my son), when my son was 13 (he'll be 18, next month). I have that card....and my IBEP card......"somewhere"....lol. I actually had to round them up when I joined a second-tier program within my state's bowhunting assoc., last year.

You have to have it physically in your possession during any archery only hunts up here. Mine's about 25 years old on paper from NY and is about to disintegrate. The newer AK ones are actually like a credit card. (They survive the washing machine a lot better!)

Even though I was grandfathered in and didn't need it, I took the class when my son did. It was fun and interesting. I have my card!

Yep I got mine, Back in 1975 Michigan took it when you bought your first tag so I had to take the course again a few back just so I would have because the state said they didn't keep records that far back.. Walt

WOW! I actually shocked at how many of of you folks have one! Granted some are young and just recently got it! I graduated from hunters ed on Jan 10th 1979, I wish I had my original card to show the boy!
