Just want to let everyone know how much I love this thing! When it comes to hanging steps or stands the lineman strap is where it's at! Being able to use both hands to secure, lift or just about anything else while in the tree is great. I highly recommend one of these. You can also use it as a sefety belt when climbing/decending climbing steps, sticks, or screw in's.
TOTALLY agree! I used mine last year after doing things the hard way many times before. It is soooooo much better and easier, not to mention safer. I hate to think about ever trying to hang a stand again without one
Cool. Also I've been making my own safty lines out with prussic knots to go on every tree I have a hang-on or ladder stand on. Really nice to be secure from the time you leave the ground till the time you get back down. And cheap.
I would like to look into doing the same. HSS makes something similar but they are around $50 each and with all of my stands it would be a little expensive. I know you cant put a price on your life but........ the lineman belt is plenty safe for me unless I could find a cheaper alternative if in fact the cost of material to make your own would be less.
Linemans rope is more for putting sticks and stands up and down. The safety lines are more for going up and down to stands your leaving in place. 1 75' weather proof line will make two safety lines. I'll pre tie on prussic knots at each end of the 75' line then they are ready to go. When you get the stand put up, tie a safety line as high as you can while standing on theI stand then hook yourself to the prussic knot and climb down. When on the ground just tie the other end to the tree and cut the rest off. The rest of the rope is ready for a 2nd stand. Now when you get to you stand at 5am you just clip on and climb and you don't need to unclip again till your back on the ground. You also don't need that other strap they give to wrap around the tree at the top.
I love my Lineman's Belt. I use it to hang all my stands and climbing sticks. It makes hanging a stand so much easier. I also hang a Life Line at every lock-on stand I have too. I believe firmly in being safe. I don't want to be a statistic. I see and know of too many people that take chances going up and coming down trees. I hunt alone a lot and I want to be as safe as I possibly can. Being connected to the tree at all times is such a plus. Another thing I love is the Lone Wolf EZ Hang Hook. It can be used to hang any lock-on in a tree. I like to add a racthet strap to my lock-on stands for added stability and this allows you to put your stand in place and ratchet it down. Hunt High and Be Safe!
There is no better system for hanging stands than the Treehopper belt. Light, easy to use once you hang a stand with it you will never hang one without it.
Speaking of that can you bring me one at the GTG to trade for the one I have? Its just way to big unless I am doing something wrong. Sent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk 2
I haven't used one yet, but I bet that is true. Something dedicated to the exact need, would be best, I'm sure. That said, the HSS Lineman sucked to me. Too big and bulky - just didn't jive well. The Muddy has worked much better for me.
I want to make my own... but where is a good place to buy this rope, what poundage rating do you use for the rope and the rope for the prussic knot? I know you take the total lbs and 10% of that is supposed to be the falling breaking strength and what is considered "safe" in the climbing world. Let me know i am trying to get out of spending 40 bucks on a HSS one on every stand.
