Anybody on here following the cycles on Hunting Calendars? My GPS has one on it for hunting and fishing and never had anyluck for it with the good/best times on it. I have a buddy that has an app on his Iphone and says its pretty accurate. Do you know of any calendars that are accurate and any apps for android phones?

I think that they are very interesting. Obviously it's not like deer only move during these times, and you have to get out when you can, but I've been putting an increased amount of faith in solunar charts over the last couple years. I've certainly seen good corrilation in bird activity at the feeders this spring & summer.

All things equal (wind, etc) if i had to choose between two days and one had better solunar rating, I'd go with that one.

I just got "Hunting Calendar, lite" for my iPhone. So far I like it.

    Fitz,

I just downloaded "Hunting Calendar" last night and proceeded to check last weekend's deer sighting times against what it said. On Friday, 10/14 I almost got a shot at 8:02 am. On Saturday, I saw deer at 8:30 am, my hunting buddy killed a doe at 8:30 am and then the doe/buck fiasco started at 5:00 pm. Weekend before last, 10/8 I killed my doe at 6:30 pm. These were less than ideal days according to the app (poor days, in fact), but check those times against the efficiency spikes on those days. It's a little uncanny. I think I'll give this data a serious try and see what happens.

I believe it all comes down to where your hunting, if your hunting feeding areas calendars may coincide with deer movement, if you hunt bedding areas your chances are anytime during shooting light. I use time2hunt app and I seem to see deer in fields during daylight more on the better days but back in the woods you just have to put in your time.

Haha I beg to differ. I know a guy in Maine who accomplished this feat a few years back. The legality of it is another story though.

I hunt whenever I can doesn't matter about the weather, moon anything. Like the guy said earlier you can't shoot any deer from the couch. I should be keeping a journal or something to find out when i see the most deer though.

To me all the calendars out there should not be telling you when to hunt but WHERE to hunt. The deer do not vanish into thin air because the moon is wrong... They are still out there you just need to find them... On days that are "Bad" days or "Slow" days to hunt I usually hunt closer to the bedding areas and on "Good" days I hunt closer to the feeding areas...

That is how I use the Calendars and it has worked for me...
