Normally I have faith in humanity but there are occasions where that faith is shaken. Here is a perfect example of youth behaving so badly its hard to watch. These New York middle schoolers taunt and bully and ridicule this 68 year old lady to tears. At one point they tell her she is so ugly her kids should kill themselves. What they don’t know is that her son committed suicide 10 years ago. What sort of human debris can do this to an old woman? What sort of parenting (or lack thereof) could lead kids to be this awful?

Not in today’s world. Kids are told they are special and we build up their self esteem and give them awards just for showing up. Movies, TV and music teaches them to devalue others but that you ought not disrespect them. They tear this woman down with not thought of humanity, kindness, compassion, empathy, caring, guild, shame, pride, respect. This was a pack mentality and I’m pretty sure that came away feeling pretty proud of themselves. Hopefully their parents will correct that flaws in their upbringing. If these kids are that rotten at middle school age, how useless will they be as adults if somebody does not step in and reeducate them?

ABSOLUTELY!!! I can not believe the disrespect kids have these days...and while the parent can be standing right next to them. At that point, I think that parents need a Good A** Whoopin!

This is another fine example of how the system does not work. When I was a kid, if we did this we would all fear for our lives because Dad would open a can of Whoop A** on you. Kids today do not fear reprisal for their actions because parents are afraid to discipline their children. I heard this morning on the radio that a parent was charged for verbally abusing her child because the child got yelled at. WTF??!!! How can you discipline a child without fear of some yahoo calling social services?

Since the very concept of punishing children for bad behavior or having consequences for wrong doing seems to have gone away in America, kids (aided my parents who don’t seem to care) seem to be doing as they please since they have been told they are special their whole life. These kids need to be made aware that what they did is wrong and that they have to be accountable to society for their actions. If I were to decide their fate I would put them in a viewing room to watch the video with the victim present and provide a facilitator to stop and start the video and press the kids to watch and ask them to answer questions about their actions. Perhaps they can be taught shame and guilt and respect with brute force since other methods have been wasted on them. They would each be required to make a face to face apology to the woman and she would be able to explain to them how hurtful their words were.

I fear however that even if this happened these little gems would walk out afterwards and roll their eyes and say “Whatever, I’m special and you can’t touch me.”

I love all the positiveness you bring to the water cooler. This place was getting all gloomy.

It appears she does not want the kids punished for what they did. She said she hope the parents see the video and use it to teach them about respect. Don't think it gonna work. I could be wrong though.

Being a Beacon of light for humanity was one of my first Halloween costumes as a kid. One of my first summer jobs was holding up a mirror so society could look upon itself. Being that I have a bad knee know I find myself sitting in judgement more and more.

The good lord put all of us on this earth for a purpose. For some, its to serve as a bad example not to follow. Youtube allows us to learn about those people at a greater rate than in the past.

I'm guessing that's the reason they've suddenly come out with all these bullying laws. The old days of a whack on the butt worked. Our bus driver used to sit up there playing a radio and smoking his pipe. If someone started getting a litttle noisy or out of hand he'd pull to the side of the road and stop. Usually the bus became instantly quiet and well behaved for the rest of the ride. I saw someone persist about 2 times in all those years. They were guided off the bus and whacked. I even saw him dump a kid 4 miles from home once and told him to walk. LOL Old Art was good. LOL

And I guess she is there to help keep the safe. Little Brats.

If you dont have God in your life it's because you worship yourself and believe you are god. Sad.
