Way to go LittleChief. Thank you and your wife for your service. I put 32 years in Law Enforcement, retired in town in a house we owned but could not get away from the people fast enough. Bought 4 A. 10 miles out, dirt road in one way and rock the other. Other than putting in the crops and harvest only see one vehicle a day - the mail man. You will love the peace and quiet. Best of luck to you and the Mrs.
Thanks to you and the wife for your many years of service. I hope y'all have an awesome retirement! Blessings..........Pastorjim

Actually, we aren't 100% certain at this point. The 8 1/2 acre place we like the best is in the Ellsinore area, which is only 30 minutes from where we get together every year for our family hunt and there are some huge bucks there now. This place doesn't have any pasture for horses, however. That wasn't a problem before, but we just found out that our daughter isn't going to be able to take our horse with her anytime soon as we had planned. I guess we could board the horse for a while, but that's an extra expense. There are quite a few other places we really like. Some are actually in the northern part of Missouri between Kansas City and Jefferson City but just a little south. Those don't really have any hunting land, but they are close to public hunting. There is one spot in south Missouri that has really caught our eye. It's about an hour east-northeast of Branson and it is 35 acres of woods and includes a valley with just enough pasture for a couple of horses. The problem with this is that it appears there is a neighbor to the north that has to cross our property by coming down our driveway and continuing on. The realtor says he isn't aware of an easement, but if there isn't and we shut him down we would have one pissed off neighbor just to the north. That's enough to make me uneasy about that one. Still, it's a pretty large tract of prime deer country. Maybe I just need to try to meet the guy if we go to look at it. I just know that with all of the acceptable choices, we won't be hurting for a place.
Congrats on the retirement, been thinking more and more about it the last couple of years. Thank you for your service, my brother served in the Navy also.
