Well, I need a harness for my son. I have an older HSS, the only issue I have with this harness is the weight. I haven't seen or had my hands on the Loggy Bayou harness or the Muddy harness. Any help, pro or cons on these would be greatly appreciated, I'm going to try and get him one this weekend!

    My choices:

    HSS Stalker
    Muddy
    LB Predator

are there any other I should be looking at??

If you get the HSS pro series they are not nearly as heavy. Just my two cents. I have it and love it.

I bought a Loggy Bayou but didn't like it. It was comfortable but it was too noisy,...too many un-coated metal parts.
I don't have experience with the other two you mentioned.

I'm currently using an SOP Deluxe model and love it.

Joe this years model for the HSS is 20% lighter as in years past.
I got to check it out at the ATA this year. But with that being said the muddy
    is pretty damn sweet.

I have a SOP and love it too. I know that wasn't listed as one of your options, Joe, but they do have them in youth sizes.

Jeff if you have any, that would be cool, don't go out of your way! I read there were issues with the chest strap being in the way or something, was this worked out??

What kind of strap comes with the muddy to attach you to the tree, rope or a strap??

Tony, did you happen to see the Treestalker harness by HSS, this would be the one I'm thinking about, not to big and bulky??

Joe yes I did but I think only the pro series was 20% lighter but I could be wrong.
You are kind of in a pickle here because your boy is a growing kid otherwise I would go
with the muddy but that is just my little opinion. For now if you want he is more then welcome
to use my lone wolf or hss harnesses until next year then hopefully you can get him a
muddy he wont grow out of. I also have some other full body harness he is more then welcome to use
by gorilla I think it is. Give me a call if need be. T

I was just over at HSS site and it appears that tree stalker is much lighter then the one I purchased 2 years ago.

I just got my Muddy in this week. I picked it over the HSS because of weight and early season in GA is hot and I thought the HSS would be hotter then the Muddy. So far I like it but I was amused with how they claim its tangle free and mine came out of the box tangled. Other then that my initial impression of it is good and I'm pleased with it, but obviously that's without any actually hunting use.

The chest strap issue has been fixed. They changed the strap from last years model and it should not be in the way now.

Seat O the Pants (SOP) fastback as a few others have mentioned. I looked at those you are looking at and settled with the SOP. Combine the harness with the linemans belt and the climbing system and and you have one slick set up.

I am incredibly impressed with th muddy harness. It is incredibly light, doesn't have the clunky plastic buckles (has interlocking metal buckles like on a loggers harness) and is not restrictive at all. It also has clips on the shoulder straps to clip grunt calls or other attachments to.

That being said, I have hunted with an HHS for a few years and don't have any complaints. It was lightyears ahead of the sigle waist strap that I used to pimp in the pines!
