I am looking at a Hoyt Vtech for $300 and a Mathews Switchback $350.
Are those good bows and are they good prices?

Yes those prices are good providing all is well, string, cables, cams. wheels, are there any extras or just bare, i recently paid $425.00 for a nearly mint 2005 switchback with a hha sight , trophy taker rest , peep , string loop, soft case, and six easton epic arrows, just make sure of the draw lenght on the switchback cause they are draw specific, pghrich

I can't speak for the hoyt but a guy at work just got a switchback, it's an 09 (i think) and he gave $600 for it. Said it looks brand new and he liked it more than any new bow on the shelf.
Shoot them both, both good brands, everyone has their style / feeling.

Id go with the Mathews but like everyone else said, shoot both and pick the one that feels the best to you, and the one you like best.
