I went bow shopping for a long time today and shot the:

    Mathews: Z7 and eZ7
Hoyt: Carbon Element, CRX and Maxxis 35
    Bear: Attack, Carnage
    Elite: Pure, Pulse
    Bowtech: Destroyer, Assasin, and Invasion

After shooting all twelve, the top three (to me) were the Mathews EZ7, Elite Pure and the Bear Carnage. I've been a Hoyt guy the last 6 years and went shopping with a preconceived notion I would be getting a new Hoyt. I came home today dissapointed in the fact I had to put Hoyt behind all models from the other 5 makers. Their draw, release, and overall feel just didnt compete. I'm not sure what happened with them!!. Anyway I want to shoot some PSE's yet, but I find it hard that any of them will beat the EZ7 or Pure. I was suprised at how much better the EZ7 was than the Z7.

For you guys that are new, this just goes to show how important it is to shoot as many as you can, because just because it says a "name" on the bow, doesnt mean YOU will like it. It sure was fun shooting all those bows though!

Excellent post, it shows too put alittle bit of effort into shooting a wide range of bows to fit everyone's individual needs and comforts!

Very interesting. I've been a PSE person. But, I think my next one I'm looking at either the Hoyt Carbon Express or the Matthews Z7 extreme. Of course, I'm going to shoot as many as I can to get a decent comparison.

Ironically, I couldn't find anything in the NEW Hoyt Line that I thought felt as good as my Alphamax35, then put Z3 cams on an Alphamax35, and you'll really be impressed!!! I shot a lot of bows side-by-side, and the AM35 w/ Z3 cams was hands down the best "feel." to me. I didn't particularly care for the Z7 I shot but it was also about 3/4" long I thought, haven't yet shot the Z7Extreme though.... The big draw-back for me to those bows is that they are TOO SHORT though.

That just shows what going in with an open mind can do. That had to be fun shooting all those bows side by side!

I made the mistake of trying an Elite bow after I bought my Hoyt last year. I like my Hoyt a lot but the Elite bow was awesome!! Good luck with your search.

I shoot every top bow my dealer had on hand and I came out with the crx32. I love it. I liked the z7extream but I didn't like how short it is. I almost got the carnage it was my second choice. I still might buy one lol

I ended up with the Elite Pure, followed very closely by the Mathews EZ7.

I thought my 7 year old Razortec shot better than the newer Hoyts. I think the razortec was one of the best bows Hoyt ever made. Its almost hard to find a bad bow these days.
