Is it the Striker or Striker II?

The Striker if my memory serves me right (not so much anymore..lol) came out in 98/99? I owned a Striker II in 99 (solid limb/Single Redline cam) and really enjoyed the bow. The Striker/Striker II would be Hoyt's top of the line in that year. It would make you a very good hunting bow and seeing it was their top line bows, speed is what it was then. Depending on your setup, you should produce more than adequate speed.

I used to have a Striker II as my main hunting bow! Sure killed plenty of deer, pretty solid bow! I was very happy with it!

Had two original (98) Strikers- one redline, one Carbonite with C-cams. I did swap out the HL cam for the LL (low letoff) cam before putting the LL on my Defiant XT2000.

I kept that Redline for many, many years. It was heavy but def my second fave Hoyt bow of all time (behind the Defiant). Excellent shooting bow and very quick for the time. It was a little tough on servings-get a good custom string & cable for it.

That is the Striker II, it's a 1999 production, it shoots a 440gr arrow at 256fps at 29.5" draw, and 62#'s.

You could go to a lighter string/cable system by upgrading from the original Fast Flight or 450+ to Brownell Xcel or BCY 8125 or even Brownell UltraCam / BCY 452x. Most of the custom makers are using 452x these days but I'm pretty sure BuckNasty gives you a choice. You could also add a string suppressor (MeanV) and get rid of the silencers on the string. If there's rubber tubing on the peep you can get rid of that as well. All together these might gain you 10-15 fps.
