I am looking to upgrade to a new bow after a 5 year break due to college. I have been to a couple bow shops and shot several bows and have been most impressed with the Hoyt Rampage and the Hoyt rampage XT. I have looked online and asked around at the shops, but i cannot figure out why the XT is $150 more than the original. Does anybody know? The bows shoot so similar that i cannot tell a difference, but there has to be something.

I have a rampage XT and the only difference from the regular rampage is that it shoots a little faster and is a little lighter. Also the only difference from the XT and the CRX 32 and 35 is the risers. The XT risers are made with a different material than that of the CRX. To mean i don't really get why the prices are so different, but i must say either one you get you'll be happy with. Hope this helps

Both Rampage bows are set up on the Magnesium alloy riser. The two things different from the XT to the standard rampage are the limbs and cams. The XT has the same Pro Arc limbs and Fuel cams that are on the $800 CRX bows. The Rampage XT is 32" axle to axle. The Rampage has the ZRS 12 limbs and the M4 cams. The Rampage is a bit longer at 34" axle to axle. I'd highly recommend the XT over the straight up Rampage because you're getting the better limbs and cams that Hoyt uses on higher end bows. You'll be faster with the XT with your hunting set up and I think the Pro Arc limbs and Fuel cams generate less vibration than the ZRS 12 and the M4 cams. Just my $.02

If you go shoot them back to back and draw both slowly, you will notice a huge difference in draw cycle. You will notice a more pro dominant valley on the XT and a much firmer back wall. Around here they have a $100 difference in price tag. You also get 15fps more with the XT as above stated the limbs and cams are different and a cast riser versus the machines aluminum of the crx. Personally it is worth the extra an one heck of a bow for the price!
