I may have done something dumb here guys...

My wife is excited to get into bowhunting with me this fall and for the last month we've been shooting different youth and ladies bows to find one that she wants to shoot come fall. She's pulling 40#'s at 25" draw length. We had narrowed our search to the PSE Chaos and Diamond Razor Edge, but she wasn't totally sold on either.

Here's where i get into trouble...

I found a new Hoyt Kobalt at Eagle Archery Supply on closeout for 299$!!!. I showed my wife the bow on their website and she immediately fell in love with it based on looks alone. I've never seen her as excited about either of the previously mentioned PSE or Diamond bows. So, I ordered the Hoyt last night

Was I an idiot for purchasing this bow without my wife ever having held or shot it? Does anyone out there have any personal experience with the Hoyt Kobalt?

I wouldnt say your an idiot. If she didnt have the chance to shoot it but she was in love with it then I would say who cares. I have bought bows before shooting different kinds because I didnt think about it but I have loved them. I still currently shoot one that I bought this way and have fallen in love with it.

Yeah maybe not a huge mistake. It is a hoyt so it's going to be a quality product, and if she wasn't too keen on the diamond or pse, then why not get it...

    So... does she like it?

I wouldn't say you're an idiot for it, but I certainly wouldn't make a habit of buying bows without shooting them. Good luck with it.

You are an idiot. She probably will hate it and will stop talking to you.

But when she shoots a monster Buck on opening day all will be forgiven!

Lots of Ri-tards here... forgive them. I do have experience with that bow and both people I know that purchased one, loved it.

She doesn't have any experience with any other bows, so chances are... she doesn't know what to compare it to. You'll be fine.

Just a little update...The Kobalt arrived a couple of days ago and wifey loves it. I have to say its a sweet little machine for the price!!! It's extremely light and compact and it has an incredibly smooth draw cycle. She's far happier with this product then with the pse or diamond. I'm glad I took the risk and ordered her the Hoyt as opposed to buying a bow she was half satisfied with. I would definitely recomend this bow to anyone looking for a high quality, highly adjustable bow.

I just bought a used Kobalt and I love it. I am only 5'2" so it fits me well. Glad she likes it.
