Guys, Got a QAD rest issue my shop can't figure out. My arrow keeps nicking my QAD rest. My tech says it's because I'm shooting 80# DW and the arrow is too fast for the rest to drop. He plans to call Hoyt but I can't imagine I'm the only one with this problem. Is this a case of a bow tech being right or not knowing how to tune this bow to the rest properly. Any one or there with a similar set up? Or any techs care to comment? Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
You're bow tech is not one I would trust to touch that bow. What shop are you in? I know you're in nj Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thanks. I may seek a second opinion. It's a small shop near where I live. I like the shop and would be disappointed if this is a tech error. Especially since they won't take the rest back and have me looking to buy a different rest. Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
I'll give full details once I find a way to hold the shop accountable if your implications show true. I don't want to show my hand if any of their employees or friends of this shop is on this site. Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
Those rests tune fine with the fastest bows, if you know what you're doing. I'd find a new shop! The only other way they wouldn't is if there was something wrong with the rest and in that case they should take it back.
Thanks Mathewshooter! The deal on the table so far is they'll have to send the rest back to Hoyt before I can get another rest to see if it is defective. I just got the bow and rather have them send it back and give me a new working rest tuned to my DW and not have to wait for these shipping bottlenecks. Sent from my Surface Pro 3 using Tapatalk
I have a limbdriver micro elite on my Carbon Spyder 34 and it works flawlessly. My son has the QAD on his Carbon Spyder 30 set at 72# and he has no problems with it. 90% of the time theres nothing wrong with the rest, its the person installing it. If your rest is fine and they install a new one, I wouldn't have much confidence in them setting it up correctly the second time. This is the main reason I bought a bow press and learned how to set up and tune my own equipment. I just don't trust anyone with my bow anymore.
From me experience and guess, it's not the rest like stated above....more than likely installed wrong. I guess there could be a first. I've seen no issue with a 370fps Full Throttle my friend shoots. with his set up its more like 340 but you get what i'm saying.
Like bootlegger said, I have seen people shooting 80 pound full throttles and they don't even have clearance issues with the QADs. They clear very fast. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I have one on my element and it was originally 80# and worked fine, dropped the DW and it still works fine.
Turns out garden state bow and reel tried to pull a fast one. They charged me full price for a 65# demo bow with 80# limbs they bought. The kicker was they put the strings on incorrectly which damaged the serving and needless to say prevented the rest from dropping correctly. Targeteers evaluated the condition of the bow and was in disbelief someone who claims to be a professional would have done this. There's more to the story so in short targeteers is contacting the Hoyt rep to make things right. Thank goodness there are still some good people in New Jersey. Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
Glad to see you got it taken care of. I would check your limb shox too. I wouldn't be surprised if they never took them off before pressing your bow to put the string on which could have damaged them.
maxpetros, I'm assuming Rob is the Hoyt rep... Rob from targeteer is a good dude. Totally solid. Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
Yeah rob is the owner of targeteers. Have no experience with the Hoyt rep. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
