Need some help guys looking at getting a Hoyt Bow.
I am looking at 2010 and 2009 models to fit my budget.

Looking at new old stock bows on ebay. Trying to stay away from used.

Looking at ALPHA MAX, Maxxis 31, Alpha Burner and Super Hawk.

I'd look at the Alpha Max for sure. One of my brothers shoots one and he loves it!

I would go with the Maxxis for sure, unless the AM is the 35" ATA model. Of the bows you listed I think that those two are the best shooters for sure. However I do not think that you will be disappointed with any of them.

I would look at the specs. Its obvious you are going to buy one of these so I would find the specs on all the bows and figure out which one would best fit you. They will all serve their purpose well. I mean after all they are Hoyt's. I personally wouldn't buy a new old stock bow and definitely do not buy one of them if they say it retains factory warranty because it won't period. Hoyt's warranty is void if bought off the internet. If they lie about that they are lying about "New Old Stock". I still stand by the best way to buy a new bow is through a pro shop hands down. Support your local guys. They are the ones you go to if you really need a helping hand anyways. You can't take a bow back to ebay if something goes wrong with it.

I personally shoot a maxxis 31, love it. but I will add that you are missing one of the nicest cheaper bows on your list of Hoyts, the 2010 turbohawk is nothing to be scoffed at, My dad bought one new in 2010 and I take the time to shoot it every time we pull the bows out, shooting with my eyes closed- it is by no means easy to tell the difference. I actually killed my turkey with the turbo hawk this spring (The arrow rest on my 2008 Avenger got bumped and I didnt have time to get it back on track).
I dont think you can do wrong with any of them, go to your local shop and see if there is a possibility of shooting any of them before you pull the trigger on one.

I would also highly recommend a Katera. ALthough draw specific, it gives great speed and is still easy to shoot well. I also had an AlphaBurner and would say the same about it although it was a bit touchier than the katera. I think in the last ten years Hoyt has made three truely exceptional bows- UltraTec, Katera and the AlphaBurner.

My cousin has an Alpha Max and it is a great bow. Super quiet and very light. One of the better bows that i have shot.
