I have your back Rybo, I work at one of the nations biggest coal fired plants in the US. Could you design SCR scrubber systems that I can actuall walk under and not crawl to get to the damper drives?
High School Technology Education Instructor. Work is constant as expected:D My enrollment numbers are solid year in and year out, so I'm hoping the work continues. With a new governor, and a growing state deficit, public education will certainly see changes, but while this view isn't share by many of my co-workers, it's necessary.
Public Ed here, my wife and I both. Our district has always run a tight ship finacially so we are weathering the economical storm. I can't complain. I enjoy my job, love working with the kids, coaching, and have a great schedule for raising my own kids and the hunting is still good in Idaho.
I work for the Federal Government, transporting private, confidential Intel to important people.... AKA Mailman Works great, just coming off of Christmas, but the media says were done... and they want to cut back to a 5 day week, which would not only further inconvenience our customers, most likely send me job searching... I'm only a Substitute, but It pays great and averages out in the big picture.
I'm a Paint Defect Analyisist for Government Motors. Things are good, I guess. Hard to say as I've only been here a little while. I've been in the auto industry for over 6 years with several different manufacturers and it is really beginning to pick back up for the company that we all own.
I own and operate a golf course. I'm also the golf pro, superintendent, marketing manager, clubhouse manager, irrigation technician, mechanic, pesticide applicator, tournament coordinator, league president, plumber, electrician, janitor, cook, equipment operator, carpenter, etc....:p Ummmm things are a little slow. 2 feet of snow and 0 degree temps usually slows down the golf industry here. I'll be back at it begining of march. Back to those 80 hour weeks.... can't wait lol
Schultz Milk Hauling, Inc Self employed milk hauler (milk man). I pick up milk from the local dairy farms with my milk tuck and haul that to a plant where they make cheese and butter. I haul 4 loads a day, 16 hours a day, 250 miles a day, 7 days a week, 6 million pounds a month. Good thing I have a full time employee to help out as each week runs about 120 to 130 hours. I do all the repairs on the truck too minus computer stuff. As far as how It's going, It's going alright but could be much better. The 2 things that are kicking my butt Is the high diesel price and crazy Insurance rates. I started In this business back In 1999. I was doing better then, then I am now. Hope It turns the corner back In the other direction again.
I'm a master electrician and the Technical Crafts Supervisor at a small Catholic liberal arts university. As long as people want an education I'm in good shape.
Shultzy, After just putting tires on my pick up and car, I'd hate to have to replace all the rubber on that rig. That one would really smart!!!
Yep, my tire guy loves me! 18 tires on my rig. Front tires are $600.00, all of the other tires run me about $300.00 a piece.
Work I am the Land Records Specialist in the Duplin County Tax Office. I work with GIS Software all day to assist tax payers and other county offices. Being it is the beginning of a new year we are incredibly busy with people paying there taxes at the last minute and some paying late. I do all of the property divisions through out the county. Generally there are about 1500 "Splits" as I call them a year on average. The splits for 2010 that got into effect this year are on pace to exceed my average from the last 4 years. Our area has seen an improvement but still not where we need to be by a long shot. PS -A "Split" is a division of land. Most of you know that but just in case. I use deeds, plats, and current ortho photography to map out these divisions.
Schultzy, that's a sweet rig :D I'm a general contractor in commercial construction, right now I'm busier than a cat covering up his poop.
I work for a 100 employee machine shop that makes parts for the military defense industry (Fighter jets, helicopters an missiles) as well as a little commerical airline work. As long as governments around the world keep buying Boeing fighters, we stay busy. I work in the QA department and naturally people make mistakes and keep me busy.
I'm a co-owner of a exterior company. We are currently busy with new home construction and insurance claims for hail damage. With the consistent hails storms each year out here we seem to have a whole lot of work. Insurance work pays well so I'm not complaining. Hopefully by next hunting season I will have some better employees so I can afford to take some more time off work.
I work with a couple friends doing general construction. Anything from setting up and pouring concrete, to roofing, to building platforms to work off of a tellehandler or skid loader. And college
Engineering Technician at a large utility construction contractor specializing in trenchless technology. It has been busy since the day I started here 7 years ago.
