Our company grew 30% last year for both revenue and employees. We are forecasting 50% growth in 2011........and I bet we are going to blow that away.
Work on a fairly large farm. At the moment on vacation. Will be back to work on Monday. It is always busy even in the winter. If we aren't working on equipment or hauling grain... you just never know what he has instored for you. We have built in the past... 2 big boat docks for his lake lot. 40 footer and a 50 footer. 2 wheel chariot for his horse hobby. Big horse walker. Header trailer Cut the sleeper off a semi and converted it into a day cab so he could sell it. Restored a couple old tractors. Numerous flat beds for his 1 tons over the years. Shorten frames or length frames on trucks and pickups for special uses. He is bad for buying wore out things and then having us rebuild/restore them... pull behind 6 ton fertilizer spread. 12 ton fertilizer tender on a Ford Louiville 2 - A International tractors. One for mowing and one for dragging his horse arena 2 older Hough pay loaders. A couple old trucks that we cut the cabs off and turned them into pull behind drump trailer A small hay baler A big round hay bailer Numerous cutting/welding projects for his neighbors, father-in-law and friends. We gutted out the main shop... reinsulated... replaced all lights and retinned it. When he had his horse barn built... we did all the work inside. Insulating, tinning. A lot of iron work for the stalls. Trenching and installing all water lines. Each stall has it's own waterer. Pretty fancy stuff for those horses. :D We built him a pretty fancy tack room. Like I said it is always busy. Tim
I work for a company (Albany, NY based) that develops and delivers a hosted software product that helps IT companies to run their business more efficiently. I've done sales here for about 4 years, and I'm currently transitioning into a position to run our west coast sales team.
Tim: That sounds like an awesome job. I love doing different things. For years I did the same (basic) things over and over. Very cool.
Plant Manager for a small Tool & Die/Machine Shop that makes parts for Caterpillar and a few smaller companies. We specialize in heavy fab of monster parts. It was really slow since the last quarter of 2008, but the last quarter of this year has been very busy. Almost so busy I felt guilty taking off to go hunting, ALMOST!! It shows no signs of slowing down in the near future. We might even have to hire a few people to keep up. I am also getting a new job title in the near future. The 84 year old owner is retiring and turning over the business to 3 of his employees a son and his wife. I am one of the lucky employees. So I will be a 1/5 th owner of the company as soon as the lawyers get it all worked out. We've been pretty much running for him the last 3-4 years anyhow so things should go smoothly.
That explains alot :D I am a Program Manager of supervised apartments for the developmentally disabled ... that's why I get along with you all so well
Congrats on the job title John! I'm a medical coder, specializing in emergency department coding. (I can put an acronym after my name..... CPC... woohoo!) People get sick and hurt all the time, good times and bad so business is usually good. Now the company I work for could can me or go belly up at any moment for all I know.... but actual patient numbers are good. Flu season is coming... that's really good for the numbers. I had a chart just the other day for a guy who passed out while masturbating and had to have a cardiac workup because of it. Does that mean it was really good... or really bad?? I also do admin stuff for another website that's sort of like this one. Only bigger. :p
I also do admin stuff for another website that's sort of like this one. Only bigger. :p That's just a temporary thing!!! The no compete deal ends very, very, very soon.
I am a traffic study engineer for MDOT. Winters are slow for me. Between March and December are the crazy months.
So you're the mastermind behind carbon capture? To the OP: I'm a substation switching dispatcher for American Electric Power. Pretty much....I direct any switching or operations of equipment in a substation. Its a fun and challenging job....especially when the weather is bad. I dread storms, high winds, extreme cold, etc. Squirrels give us a lot of problems too.
Active duty Navy. I'm a Fire Controlman First Class (E6)...sounds like a firefighter, but it's not even close. I'm basically an electronics/networking tech, and the guy that pushes the button to blow s&!t up when it's needed, but I'm currently stationed as an instructor. Train 20-25 junior sailors at a time on basic and advanced electronics operation and troubleshooting. Been in the Navy for just over 7 years, and an instructor here in NE Illinois for almost a year.
I couldn't handle doing the same thing day after day. The only downside is harvest. You give up a lot of time to it... but it pays his bills so he can pay you. I get to sit in a very nice combine so it is not all bad !! Tim
Active duty Army. Military Police. Currently Im assigned to an Military Intelligence unit. I could tell you what i do then I would have to kill you. But im PCSing (permanent change of station) in July. Im going to Lackland AFB to the Military Working Dog Handlers course. So basically Ill have a dog for a partner for a while. As far as growth, Im sure they will downsize. When I came into the Army, they had waivers for anything from not graduating highschool to felony assault. Now, if you have any blemishes on your record or anything that would need a waiver you probably wont get in. The economy being crappy helped the armed forces tremendoulsy. Congress says each branch can have this many personnel and Im pretty sure that no branch has ever had there numbers almost at max capacity like they do now.
