I had a 12 yard shot on this guy on the third to last day of our season. It would have been the biggest deer I had ever shot had he not been broken on one side. But all I could think was what he would be like next year, so I grabbed the camera rather than the bow.

    No regrets.

That's a hell of a buck! I bet if he had matching sides he'd go in the mid 170's. There was a buck very similar to that shot on a neighboring property here that scored 190 some inches, but it had several kickers and a little longer tine length. Good luck getting him next year!

What he didn't say, is that the deer only stands as tall as a lab... lol. Kidding...

Seriously though, is there something stuck on the antler, where it broke off? Or is that some kind of growth?
Can't tell right now. I'm still working on coffee...

    Jackflap,

Nice deer there. I don't know how you could pass him he is sweet! You are a better man than I. Im not an expert ager but I have him at 3 1/2. Short nose no sagg in his back and no roman nose as of yet. He will be a complete stud next year and he might have that left side fixed,,,,never know.

It looks like his rack was damaged while in velvet. Does anyone know if that would affect the growth next year? He is a super stud that's for sure.

I believe it would only effect its growth again if the pedicle was damaged.

Yep. He should grow back fine if he can avoid the 'yotes and trucks until then.
